Back to where we belong at the top of the SPL, but still propping up the table compared with earlier seasons. Hopefully this is where some perspective can now come for the remainder of the season.

Celtic 2011/12 75021661015

Closed the gap to 1 point behind last season, still on the worst goal difference. Those missed chances today could have changed that somewhat.
So taking Crossraguel table from last year. This year, 2013/14 this is our record after 7 games.

P W D L F A GD Pts
7 6 1 0 17 7 10 19

This would put us in 6th position on GD, between 2004/05 and 2002/03
Two seasons we lost the league on the last day.

Apologies for not updating this sooner; I had been using the SPL site for data and the SPFL one which superseded it, though containing useful archive records of every SFL/Division 1/Division A/First Division/Premier Division/SPL season, hasn't been quite as user friendly for this purpose. Still, worth a browse: http://spfl.co.uk/premiership/archive/

Up there just a couple of points off the perfect starts in 2000/01 & 2010/11 and 5pts off last season can't be that bad.

As Lenny said in his post-match interview, we're 4pts behind last season in the CL, our second-worst performance at this stage on goal difference.

Pleased to see our league consistency is currently higher than it had been for a couple of years. Would. Really like to be in the 90s again points-wise this season.

Today held the possibility for the current side to go joint top of the table, perfect starts never lasting the ninth match. Still only 2 points off the pace, retaining one of only a handful of unbeaten starts. Nae shame in that.

Will let Crossraguel do the fancy graphics but by my reckoning we are now fourth on the season list. A couple of seasons we went on long winning streaks so that position is unlikely to change upwards anytime soon.

The tenth round of matches included a few memorable moments...
Here's last season's table. We're pretty high up on 26 points.

Most importantly we are 6 points ahead of last season. Disappointingly we have conceded the same number of goals as last season. Doing this from memory so I can't recall how many we've scored this season but think we're doing okay there. Just checked, it's 22 for and 9 against so three more goals than last year.

Sammy is on 7, Commons on 6, Stokes on 5, Forrest on 4, Pukki and Balde on 2 each (in all competitions). Not too bad for October

The 11th round of matches was memorable for the 9-0 win against Aberdeen in 2010 but this was followed by 1 win and 3 draws in the next 5 matches. We will struggle to match any of the MON year totals but in 06/07 and 08/09 we drew a lot of matches and therefore we may overtake these. To put it in perspective the lowest total points for a season under MON was 92 and for us to beat this total with 27 games left would mean winning 22 games or winning 20 and drawing 6. Will even be difficult to beat the 91 points from 05/06.

Like pieol, my apologies for the lack of graphics - and if you want to use my info in a table Crossraguel, that would be great - but here is a comparison of our Champions League group campaigns, after Matchday 4, from best to worst and where we eventually finished in the group:

----------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------
2003/04 = P4 W2 D0 L2 F6 A4 Pts 6 +2 = 3rd

2007/08 = P4 W2 D0 L2 F3 A4 Pts 6 -1 = 2nd
-----------------------------------------------------------
2006/07 = P4 W2 D0 L2 F4 A6 Pts 6 -2 = 2nd
------------------------------------------------------------
2001/02 = P4 W2 D0 L2 F4 A6 Pts 6 -2 = 3rd
-------------------------------------------------------------
2013/14 = P4 W1 D0 L3 F2 A5 Pts 3 -3 = Currently 4th
-------------------------------------------------------------
2004/05 = P4 W1 D0 L3 F3 A9 Pts 3 -6 = 4th

Credit to Aberdeen today - a good advert for the SPL on the pitch and fans in good voice and numbers off it  Attendance up 5k on the equivalent fixture last year - an extra £100k into their coffers.
This time last season we would have been trailing ICT. Just one less draw and we would have been a good bit higher up but then we are only 4 points behind the 03/04 season. Which was pretty good.

Still doing ourselves no favours on the defensive front. Perhaps all the moreso given that previous years have seen us lose a good number of goals in a single game (eg three or four against Rangers) whereas we are just consistently conceding one a game this season. Given our difficulty in creating and finishing chances, that's causing us some problems albeit our wins ratio stands us in good stead to pick up a good number of points

It's funny to think despite being unbeaten in our opening 13 league games for the first time in 10 years, our 33/39 points is 'only' our 9th best start in the past 14 seasons.

Sorry - I just had to sort it out.
