Can only recall it happening twice.

Once in Sept 1977 when a guy was standing alone with a Clydebank scarf, red, white and black, full of metal badges.

In the mid to late 80's there was a big Hibs fan who used to stand with his Celtic mates shouting 'C'moan the Hibbees !' He was there every game during that period so much so that we used to look out for him.

Anyone else recall any away fans in the Celtic end during the old terracing days ?

My old man used to take me to Celtic Aberdeen games a lot in the 80s. Big game big crowd with no hassle. Saw a few red and white scarves in the Rangers End (where we used to always stand)

Used to always stand in the same spot, Celtic end, three quarters the way up the terracing, slightly left of the goal (looking from the terracing).

Can honestly say I never seen one single away fan in the Celtic end between 1970 and 1981.

Before 1985 when they built those hideous fences in the Rangers end there was no problem with away fans mixing in the Rangers end or the stand.

But there were very few instances of seeing away fans in the Celtic end.

Up until 1982 the main stand wasn't even segregated for playing the huns which was a strange feeling.

huns in the Celtic end just at the main stand. Not sure what game it was but could have been grasshopper's 1st for them at Celtic Park.

Edit: I see it's been mentioned.

there were certainly infiltrators in the corner of the celtic end at the 3 1 game...

a friend got lifted out by two polis - wearing the obligatory barbours and tartan scarfs - for throwing a coin at them. he was taken outside and walked into the main stand. when he told them he was 15 they booted his backside a few times and told him to eff off back to saltcoats (his hometown). he was then chucked back outside just as a load of rangers/chelsea were ejected from the celtic end. he was in a bit of a dilemna as there were around 25 of this mob suddenly surrounding him. luckily, he had no colours on and a black chelsea fan, assuming he was one of them, struck up a conversation with him. he walked with them past the ticket office and then doubled back and hung around the car park waiting for the gates to open. at this point a celtic fan walked past who had been slashed at the back of the celtic end, which made him feel really guilty for covering up his own allegiance just minutes earlier.

he then came back in before the end of the match and told us the story. we were amazed that he had got off as we had all saw him being led out. it seems that getting lifted at 15 meant your parents had to be contacted and being from saltcoats the polis could not be bothered with all the hassle, hence the boot up the backside.

The day Frank Munro scored the own goal there was a big St Mirren support in the Rangers end.

There was also a game against Dundee Utd wnere there was a big United support in April 1979 that I seem to recall. They were singing along to a song with the tune of Blaydon races.

But big away supports were a rare occurence back then. In Oct 1979 about 20 Dundee fans waved a union jack in the Rangers end and half the Jungle moved in and chased them.

The 8-3 game v Hamilton in January 1987.

About 60 casuals walked in the Celtic End, down by the stand where they were escorted into the Hamilton section. Not sure if it was Accies mob who had decent numbers then or ICF as the huns game was off.

Apart from that I'd seen the odd Hibs, St Mirren, thistle fan in the Celtic End in the early 80's

Judas' debut against Hibs in 1984 saw a major rammy between us and Hibs with no segregation

Hibs fans will no doubt claim they started it.

huns end at Celtic Park was witness to a few rammies as the only segregation was a removable barrier against the likes of hearts and aberdeen.....and hibs as you mention.

Toe to toe at times. :twitch:

Slightly off topic but before Paradise Windfall draws, half time entertainment was mainly a bi-annual affair of watching Hearts fans fight with each other in the old Rangers end.
