How good was Chris Sutton?

With tonights match and reading his book, I wish we had this type of player at the moment, he was hardly what you would class as a target man, but by god he could mix it with the best, up front, midfield or at the back, he was worth his weight in gold and a player many top class teams are crying out for.

Chris Sutton - Legend.

i wouldn't call him a legend.

a great player, who had a fantastic partnership with larsson, but not a "legend."

One of the best of his kind. His unselfish work pushed Larsson to greater heights.

Marcello Lippi couldn't believe that he wasn't considered a first choice pick for England after Sutton rag dolled his defence in 2001.

And he was an evil genius. :naught:

Loved his attitude, took no shampoo from anybody. :arrr:

Defenders hated him, had that edge that we are sorely missing.

Worked his socks off every game and by all accounts loved his time up here.

Not quite a legend but won't be forgotten easily. :worthy:

He was a top, top class player.

Not sure about legendary status, though. :hmmm:

Just awesome.

Larsson adored playing with him, every defender feared him.

Top player, vastly under rated down south after his Chelsea debacle, but his services to Blackburn and Norwich are beyond question.

Was a great striker, perfect partner for Henrik. A waste at centre half.

sutton was immense, my favourite player at the time even though henrik was in the team lol. i think the fact larsson was with us at the time took away from how good sutton actually was, henrik got, quite rightly 95% of the limelight. If he had not been there sutton would more than likely have got the praise and adulation instead. as im only 30 they were the 2 best strikers and partnership i have seen in the hoops, both of them legends in my eyes.

This thread pops up about twice a year.

For me, the most important signing we made in years. He is a legend.

Larsson was a better player but Sutton was incredibly important in bringing a big ego, arrogance and self belief to the club and that carried us up higher than we'd been in the years before or since he left.

An incredibly important and talented player. Probably my favourite Celt of the modern era.
