Boycotts - An Appeal

Rangers, as we now all know, have been caught cheating. They are fraudsters. Criminals. Our league has been riddled with corruption for years.

So what happens? Clubs like Motherwell and Kilmarnock are - astonishingly - now arguing that money must take precedence over integrity.

And meanwhile, the impotent SPL do nothing. Not a thing.

And so it becomes increasingly clear that it is up to us, as the Celtic support, to take action.

If money is all that these shameful, grasping individuals recognise, then we must address them in the only language they understand - profit.

So I urge you all - I appeal to every single one of you..... if these clubs disgrace themselves, and disgrace our league, by voting to condone cheating and corruption, then we must arrange an organised boycott.

By using the new media, and specifically the Celtic message boards, we now have the ability to harness our power as Celtic supporters to arrange an organised boycott of the clubs sanctioning cheating and corruption. If these clubs choose to go down this crooked path, then as a support, we must choose never to set foot in their stadiums again. We must stand up and reject everything that they stand for. The cheats - and those who condone the cheats - believe they must make a choice : either integrity or profit. Well, it is up to us to show these racketeers that this choice does not exist - if they decide to allow The Cheats back into the SPL, no true Celtic fan will ever again squander our hard-earned wage in their stadiums of ill-repute.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. We have it in our power to genuinely affect the outcome of this utter fiasco , if only we grasp the chance. It is that simple - keep your hand in your pocket and we can achieve what has never been achieved in the history of Scottish football. Integrity, parity, and a refusal to be trampled and subdued because we are not 'the people.'

I am very keen to hear your views,

John.

(Please keep this thread separate from the main liquidation thread. This is focussed more on what we, as a support can strategically do to affect the outcome of the ongoing investigations, than on the actual situation itself. Celtic, as a club have (perhaps wisely) chosen to stay silent about their views on this fiasco. However, as a fanbase we can act on a more informal basis, and this is what I am interested in discussing).

I agree 100%

Usually I'd be very reluctant to go down this path as the media will no doubt spin it into us using "bully-bhoy" tactics. However extraordinary circumstances call for extraordinary measures and with this seemingly balanced on a knife edge we may be able to make the difference.

What needs to happen is a meeting to be set up between the CSC's to agree a strategy and produce a strongly worded statement, signed by a representative from each group outlining our position and intentions should the newclub be voted in. If there is a long list of supporters groups on the statement it will carry more weight. Getting someone on to Newsnight Scotland or similar to put across our case would be ideal too. No-one can rightfully argue against our stance on this, plus we have the backing of the vast majority of football fans in Scotland as well.

If we can assemble the various groups, assemblies etc, have an quick vote for appearances sake then produce a statement the threat alone may sway "floating voters" among the chairmen. We need to move quickly though.

It's simple - all the CSCs and message boards put out a joint statement - 1 line;
"Do you value their pound over ours?"

Done.

I agree. It should be made abundantly clear that those clubs who vote for a newco back in will be boycotted by Celtic fans. If they want to court the orange pound they should be aware that it will come at he expense of money elsewhere, both from Celtic fans but also their own supporters.

Totally agreed.

This would show other clubs dithering chairmen, and the relevant governing bodies, how foolish and wrong their disgusting stance of financial primacy over sporting integrity is.

The irony of how we twisted their own despicable rationales straight back at them, with interest, would be a delight.

Hail!Hail!

Agree 100%

Rangers fc and their conniving supporters in positions of power have cheated us and all other teams in scotland's for decades

They have now been caught for their actions over last 10-15 years and the spineless and true to form their friends who glory in their ill-gotten gains seem determined to ensure

The rangers fc get ushered back in to do it all again

Shame on shameless THe Rangers and any club supporting them

Support Celtic at Celtic park, Aberdeen and all other clubs determined to do the right thing and withdraw all monies from the others

For various reasons I don't get to as many games as I like these days but clubs like Motherwell and Kilmarnock (if they do indeed vote 'The Rangers 2012' into the league) will make it very easy for me to scrub them from the list of games I do get to.
They are banking on the loyalty of Celtic fans. They think they can still get the Rangers support at their ground and we'll just ro up like mugs as usual when it's our turn to visit.

Living abroad I don't actually have a say in this but I wholeheartedly agree, bhoycott the bastards! Maybe let a core group of 50 go in to the game with a banner and sing their hearts out in support of our team... will probably drown out most of the home supports anyway!

Don't much care for the phrase "no true Celtic fan", but I agree with the principle.

Are there any plans for all the Celtic supporters group to meet and issue a joint statement? As one previous poster said. The other clubs might have a choice to make as to who's pound they would prefer cos they're not going to get both.

There would only be one winner there.

As much as I would hate to see Celtic suffer due to a decline in travelling support, there is no chance in Hell that Any team voting in a new-club will get a single penny off of me.

Absolutely agree 100%. It's time to ask these teams do they value the newco's money or ours.

We might not have the greatest league in the world but it doesn't stop us spending a lot of money following our team and the least we should expect for our money is a level playing field and a game where integrity is above all else.

Right the wrongs please chairmen and save our game

100% agreed- let us use the economic issue to force them all to do the right thing. If they are allowed in is it a league worth watching? Any club stupid enough to vote them in should not get one thin dime of Celtic supporters money
2 choices
a league accepting that no matter what you do you will be accepted
a league where sporting integrity is the name of the game

Sorry the answer to that has to be no no no.

What has to be done is to arrange a joint statement from all fan groups about not just from us.

If CFC fans make such a statement on our own we will be widely demonised and comparables will be made with the threats from the likes of FF.

This is the time for fans to organise as one group, that voice will be louder and carry more weight.

I'll boycott any team that votes for newco.

How will you know, as far as I am aware, Kilmarnock have it arranged as a secret ballot. Why would we want to boycott any football club that voted against it?
