Does any have or even seen a pre match team picture from the 1970 European Cup Final ?
spent the last hour searching all the images I have but havn't come across it, there is a football blog that has a feature on the 1970 final and also had the full match available to download (in black & white), I remember watching the start of the match a good while back and both teams were shown, if it is any help to you. The blog is called 'Up And Down by TheWildBunch22'

Got over 700+ images of line-ups & squad photos and never once seen an image of the team in the San Siro that night.

Wonder why no Evan Williams in the top pic? - Keepers in that one are John Fallon and Bobby Wraith.

This top pic is bugging me .

pd1978 will likely know (or have a record) but I think Wraith was away by the San Siro Final - Could this pic be before the A C Milan 1969 game against Rivera. Trappatoni and co - Pitch looks okay there although that pic would be the day before probably but it was snowing the day of the actual game - We pulled off a draw over there and managed to get beat 0-1 over here with a Cesar feck up

Milan then went on and beat Man Utd and Ajax to win it and said they knew they would win it once they had beaten Celtic as Celtic were the only team that could have stopped them.

I'm sure the picture in the tracksuits came with the paper that day... it is one of the memories I have from then! If that is a young Macari in the front row, would he have been there in 69? same with Callaghan?

It may be that is why I am asking tbh - I am not sure about Wraith - I am hoping pd can clarify that.

Re Macari he is the bottom pic but not the top one - Both he and Callaghan were around in 1969.

Bobby Wraith was freed May 69.

Which would mean the top pic is not a European Cup Final Squad at the San Siro .

It may still be the 1969 Euro q/f squad at the San Siro?

First picture I've seen where the goalies are in the bottom row. Just a wee observation which I'm sure the Moch will appreciate.

I think you're bang on there. Wraith was sub goalie v A.C.Milan.

Simpson was sub to Fallon v Red Star and Fallon was sub to Simpson v St Etienne.

Wish we had shown some of that spirit last night. :arrr:
Dave Smith saving Johansen from taking a severe second prize from Davie Hay.

Even Wee Bobby looks as if he is going to have a word with some hun :carrot: with Mathieson not sure wtf is happening.

That hun fud Wharton is the ref - When Wharton died the family were even selling off gear he had been presented by the huns.

I'm coming to the defence of Tom "Tiny" Wharton who was an official without peer. I get a bit fed up with the way he's sometimes characterised on KDS, largely based on that handshake photo with Greig (although whether he was a mason or not doesn't bother me in the slightest, afterall some of the greatest Celts, I suspect, have been in the craft!).

I had the privilege of meeting Wharton in a professional capacity seven or eight years before his death. As we chatted, it soon became evident where my allegiances lay. It also transpired that, like me, he was born and brought up in the East End of Glasgow.

"So, you're a Celtic man, then? Aah, my own boyhood heroes. Manys a time me and my pals would walk down to Celtic Park....." and off he went on a trip down memory lane to his visits to a pre-war Celtic Park.

It may not have been an affection he carried into adulthood, I have no way of knowing. I remember Wharton the referee and have no memory of Celtic fans (not even my late father) ever accusing him of being anti-Celtic (unlike his contemporary, Bobby Davidson!)
