Forgive my ignorance, can anybody give the story regarding the vertical strip in this still?
Was there not a competition in the View to design a new away or second strip as it was called back then?
This was the winner - I liked it more than the yellow efforts :thumbsup:

How we lost that title after the Bellamy show at Ibrox is anyone's guess.

Thrice is the past decade we have blown it - 20005, 2009 (Hibs away :brickwall: ), and Lennon's first full season.

Hearts V Celtic, caption states that this was the largest crowd ever at their ground.(may or may not be true, I don't know myself) It must have been scary to be a young kid in the middle of that crowd, the whole concept of crowd safety must have been totally alien to the powers to be.

A horror show of a ground to get into got caught up in a crush at a midweek cup
tie, honestly thought someone would have died in ,me and my mate jumped into
the yard of the old church next to the gates ,need a wee bit help with the game when
we finally got in Robertson scored for them after about 20 mins.Anybody?

Cracking for atmosphere but a death trap of a ground without a doubt - I remember a night game way back in the day when it was still pay at the gate where the sheer pressure of Celtic fans queuing up on the Gorgie Road had shop windows going in - And it was pressure alone not vandalism as Tims ended up going through the glass.

Then you had the joy of the turnstiles with the bogs above so by the time you got to the enclosure you were humming of pish!!

Still to this day absolutely love skelping those bastards at that midden.

I'll go out on a limb here and say this in November 71 when we won 5-1 at Firhill a few weeks after Thistle had beaten us in LC final;

if the record book is correct, the No9 is Dixie Deans (even if it looks too slim to be Dixie) and that would be his debut.

Look how packed it is on terracing - crowd was 33,000.

Last week when we went there it was 8000 - and loads of Celtic fans were lookin for tickets

Slim or not that is Dixie. :thumbsup:

We lost the LCF to Thistle in the October and Jock went straight out and bought Dixie.

Debut game - Debut goal - 5-1 Firhill - All bang on from 20Glasgow. :thumbsup:
