Looks like Ralph Brand standing next to Wharton which would make it the 64 LCF
Brand is in front of McNamee but Brand also played in 1963 SCF.

In 1964 LCF McKay and McNamee weren't playing and Cesar was injured - Also Wharton wasn't the referee it seems to have been Hugh Philips.

Identifiable Sons of Satan in that pic are to me Brand.Millar and McMillan and can only think the wee guy is Willie Henderson as huns never went for many wee guys in their teams.
Agreed

Worth pointing out that at that time green clothing could rarely be seen in public.

When I was at primary I don't think any of us wore anything green. Clothing was almost always black, grey, brown and blue.

I went to St Gerards sec school in the late 70's where the uniform was bottle green and my Ma had a time trying to get a green jumper for school.

Quite a drab colourless era to grow up in....until the fortnightly visit to Parkhead to see the Celts ;)

If it had been the 1970's or 1980's he would have proven us all wrong. ;)

I give way to the more 'experienced' on here as 1963 was before my time :worthy:

Some points on the picture:

1. It's definitely Hampden
2. That's the corner flag at the Celtic End/North Enclosure junction
3. Passageway 22 and 23 is where I always stood with my Dad and his brothers at big games at Hampden, which was the Celtic End/north enclosure junction
4. Celtic wore white socks in the SCF 63 cup final, instead of the striped socks that had been worn since before the war
5. I think that's the replay, as my Dad told me it was pissing down which made the night even more miserable
6. Remember that the replay took place on the Wed night immediately following the Saturday, so it may have been pay at the gate back then, and it may have suited some huns to go to the Celtic End to get train from Kings Park Station to Lanarkshire, for example
7. Also the Celtic end was 50% bigger (60k v 40k) in terms of capacity than hun end, so some itinerant huns may have got in simply because there was space
8. hun strip is early to mid 60's - round neck with red socks with white tops started in 68/69 season
9. McNamee and McKay were away by mid 60's
10. Sure it's Haffey in goal.

I was there. Darren Jackson's debut.
No it isn't.

JJ
I know it's not Darren Jackson in the picture. But I think the game was Jackson's debut, no?

That's some picture. Not a stadium to match it at it's peak for numbers and atmosphere.

Fecking sad to see it the way it is these days :ffs:

7. Just can't see huns mixing with us in our end. Never experienced non-segregation at any games against deidco in my lifetime.

Has anyone?

If it is pre 1965, would we not have been wearing hooped socks?

I could be wrong - Celtic did not wear all-white socks in the period prior to 1965. So, I'm certain it's not the ill-fated 1963 SCF or indeed the replay. My father was at both games. Did someone here call Tiny Wharton "fat"??? :boxer:

Not necessarily - So far we are between 1963 and 1971?

^^^^

Had a swatch on the Kds Wiki - In those pics of 1963 SCF we are wearing white socks.
