Hinkel ; Naw say AAAAAAAAAAAA, like this.

McDonald ; Aw fur fuxxake AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

It's Jim O'Brien not Andreas Hinkel.
Gretna at Fir Park. McDonald's late winner.

He got booked for his celebration - nothing changes!

Quoting limited to 3 levels deepPosted Image
I remember hearing something about this before, could you enlighten my ignorance of the night in question?
I've never heard any such thing at all but would be interested to... :ponder:
It's only my opinion. After a particularly dismal showing in the league the previous season we managed to qualify for this competition. Celtic fans made up the majority of the 20,000 or so at the 1st leg in turf Moore . It was an event that would have even relegated events at dens park last season :naught: and the Hampden riot to kindergarten status.
hundreds of drink loaded buses left from salubrious drinking men's pubs throughout scotland. This is what followed.

1) mayhem at service Stations which involved police with dogs and wholesale looting and debauchery. My 2 distinct memories from my supporters bus alone was one guy arrested and put in van with dogs. He was released from the van by Fenian vigilantes.however, he was bloodstained and missing his trousers, but in true celtic fashion still attended the match. While this was happening one of his mates was liberating a full tray of penguin biscuits from the service station which he liberally distributed to all on the bus.

2) as this was going on the football special was being stoned in burnley as celtic came face to face with organised football hooligans.

3) we arrive in the ground to find that little portable huts selling pints were dotted round the ground. The one near us was almost lifted off the ground and again liberal looting took place.

4) the burnley fans then decided to chant Argentina at us (funny how years later it was the other way round when the Malvinas kicked off) it was the one and only time that I heard some fans sing flower of scotland at our game. This was drowned out by soldiers song and chants relating to an organisation very much involved in the peace process, but seen in England as bad boys in those days

. 5)There was a no mans land between both sets of fans with 6' high iron railings on either side. A rangers scarf was produced cue mayhem. A sea of bottles and cans of used lager rained down on the burnley fans. They responded with an interesting tactic. The beer cans were flattened and then skyted back at us. The casualty count was rising and eventually a full scale rammy ensued. Celtic fans pulled down the fencing and used it as spears to throw at the police and burnley fans who ran onto the field. Billy came out to appeal for calm.

6) on our return to glasgow there was a lot of stories of celtic fans being ambushed. There was general agreement that the team didn.t put much effort in in the 2nd leg as celtic didn,t want a repeat performance.

this is a page from Paul John Dykes book The Quality Street Gang .can anyone spot something peculiar about the bottom photo taken in 1966 ? ........
Hughie told me the story that the squad were all waiting for Jock Stein and Sean Fallon to come out for the photo so he set up his tripod and Neilly Mochan grabbed a Hoops top from the hamper and jumped on the bench for the back row. Hughie then stood in the middle row himself and the camera took the shot...
