Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
I'd second that on the basis that I can't work out who else it would be.
It is absolutely Basel from 1974 quarter final
I've a picture somewhere of Stevie Murray's goal from that game, and
their strip is exactly as in the George Connelly picture - but the biggest clincher
of all is the Basel player with the Brian May hairstyle, he is in both photies
Been mulling that over; it could be the home game against Ujpest Dosza on 25 October 1972: that programme had these pics of the game on 22 March 1972:

It would only take a minor change to their strip to be the one in the Connelly pic.

Otis - Have a look at these two pictures, check out the guy with the thick dark hair
(kinda Carlos Puyol type!) is that not one and the same guy, fae the same game :ponder:
The Stevie Murray goal is fae the European Cup Quarter Final v Basel in 1974 - surely therefore
the Connelly picture is same :ponder:
Edit - forget the pictures - link doesn't work
But I'm sure it's the same game!!

Doesn't the Connelly pic not have him wearing the post 73 strip with the collar and the wee V bit, while the pics above are the round neck hoops?

So I would guess its Basle.

I've come to this late and I've maybe missed something. If I have, excuse my ramblings.

My auld fella used to TELL me I wasn't well enough for Primary school on days that such ticket sales took place - To be sure I was okay  he then used to take me up the road to CP with him as he queued for tickets - Funnily enough he always gave me the dosh to buy whatever amount of tickets* you were allowed on such days.

*Bonus was I knew one of said tickets was coming in my direction. :rocker: ;)

The last time I remember queuing like that for tickets at the main stand was for the Centenary cup final. Queued for the best part of two hours. Then a wee trip to the Glasgow Garden Festival. It was quite a summer!

He was certainly on the books at CP. My b-i-l is mates with him; I'll get him to ask if he made any first-team appearances.

Only time I queued like that was for the Maestro's testimonial. Was there about 4 or 5 hours, utterly ridiculous. Felt well-chuffed to eventually get a ticket tho. That was until the night of the match, me and my old man sat right behind one of the pillars in th north stand. Paid full price, no mention of restricted view. Even more restricted given the horrendous fog that night!

There were similar - if not bigger - queues for tickets for the games against AC Milan in 1969 and Leeds in 1970.
