Wouldn't mess with these ladies since they all work in munitions factories. The match had plenty of shots on goal and reports said there was an explosive atmosphere at the game. Scottish winger Mishelle McGrain who plays for the Gunners, rifled in the first goal with a missile like shot but Mary Cannon, the Bolton Bomber equalised for the English.
They knew how to place an apostrophe in those days. I guess the writer didn't work in the fruit trade!

You've got to admire the sales pitch.

England v Scotland in huge writing.

Read the small print erm Vickers Munitions Wumins Team, Barrow In Furness v Beardmore Munitions Wumins Team, Parkhead.

Is this from one of the games when we beat them 3 times in a fortnight.
KD fixing his laces on the penalty spot is a favourite memory.
I think this is from later in the 70's.. their black socks?

I think this is the Anglo-Scottish cup tie from 78? I was at the match, we scored 6 IIRC. Strange stadium I thought.. looked very old to me even then! And ,yes , that kit is one of my favourites ..... they should market it as "the 4-2" shirt :)

The best I can come up with is a picture of young Kenny polishing the boots of the established huns in the dressing room prior to a match, notice the quiet dignity of the bluenose players still wearing their hats just minutes before kick off. Also notice the ref in the corner waiting for his instructions.

I can't let you have any photos, but I do have great memories of Shawfield. My father was a Hearts supporter (don't ask!), so my first ever football memory is a Clyde/Hearts game around 1954 at Shawfield, which was a short walk along the banks from where we lived in Dalmarnock. I was 5, my brother was 3, and I remember being pretty bored! Come the 60's, some great games between Clyde and Celtic. Clyde had a great team then, they came 3rd in the old first division around 66/67? Joe Gilroy, Harry Hood, Alex Bryce, Sam Hastings- all great players. Plus my physics teacher at the Mungo, John McHugh. Also a great player, but stayed part-time, we all wanted him to join Celtic, but a teacher probably got as much as a footballer back then, or close to. The view was crap, thanks to the low-slung lights over the dog track, but I loved the place. That ground was Scottish football at its best to me- rough and ready, nothing fancy, but always great football.

I loved Shawfield. Was there the afternoon Ronnie Simpson did his shoulder in and Tommy Gemmell went in goals for a 0-0 draw and also went to later league matches. Me and my mate once went to buy tickets and you had to go into the main stand, through the snooker room and into the sort of board room to buy them, strange but quaint. I also worked with a guy who played for Clyde in the early 70s called Brian Ahearn (big tim) who later went on to hold the most appearances for the club, his great claim to fame when we worked in the Savings bank at Cowglen was that in a heavy defeat to the huns at Ibrox, Brian scored an OG which turned out to be like the 6000th League goal for them. The Sunday papers were at his house the next day for the story and the photos desperately trying to get him to agree that John Greig's shot was going in anyway - but Brian blew this out the water and cheekily claimed the goal leading to a heroes reception at work the next morning from the rest of us tims. The huns were less receptive!! Great times.
