Wouldn't have picked out Tardelli or Charlie from that picture, Nicholas must have been on the steroids given how puffed up his face looks :ponder:
No way is that Tardelli. 100% certain it's Claudio Gentile.
I have new glasses ordered, thank God, I thought the eyes were really failing me.
Definitely Gentile - Never made a bad tackle in his career.

First off, apologies for the grainy quality of this picture. This is a photo of my grandfather (on the left) with Ronnie Simpson. Taken in Catterick during their National Service in the late 1940s.

Always remember watching a world cup game from Rome in 1976 between Italy and England.

Causio, Bettega and Antognoni ripped the English apart but Italy had Gentile and a guy called Romeo Bennetti who made Greig and Forsyth from the deid huns look like choirboys. They were assassins.

Maybe Boretim was there that day.

Yep. He seems to have started playing during the War, into the army in the late 40s and then went back into football in 1950.

Some life story Ronnie Simpson.

Son of a famous Rangers captain.
Played in '48 Olympics for Britain.
Two FA cup medals with Newcastle.
Free transfer to Celtic at 34.
First Scots cap at Wembley 67 at 37.
ECF 67
Player of the year 67
Councillor in Edinburgh for the Conservatives (ouch)
Pools panel rep in later life.

Faither we salute you :worthy:

Rest in peace Ronnie Bhoy.

hun looking tough, knowing the ref is on his/her way. That ref looks like Margaret Thatcher, it's definately possible she would have wanted to help the bears.
McGinley ,he actually gave us 2 penalties at ibrox one day .
fair play to her

That is one incredible CV all right, What would his father have thought of him playing for the Celts? There is a movie to be made based on those nine lines.

the last post by st.Anthony surely proves what a broad church Celtic FC was and is, you couldn't imagine a similar situation happening at the former deadco. Imagine it is the mid sixties and the son of a former Celtic great arrives at ibrox to sign for them, he would have been met by a lynch mob.
