Can't remember that exact goal or game though i'd deffo have been in that pic in the enclosure.
Deffo is as you say ie St Mirren at Love St and from the strips it was that year. Can't confirm that exact game though.
I think Murdo scored 4 times at Love Street that season (81/82). Twice in August League Cup game and then twice in league game in March. Pictures from the March game suggest it was a cold and wet day so looking at the sunshine in this pic I'm assuming it's the August match- don't want to create match pic page on the Wiki until it can be confirmed though!

Our first European 11.

Fairs Cities Cup

Valencia Sept 1962.

Valencia won 4-2.

John Fallon assures me we should have won 5-4, as Stevie Chalmers had a perfect goal disallowed and 2 stone wall penalties denied!!!!

Bobby Carroll netted for us and in turn scored our first goal in European competition, the goal was deflected in by Mestre who was 2 yards from the line and some have argued that it was an o.g. ........ if this was the case, lets say, then who scored the next....old bhoys

Footage from in and around celtic park sometime in the mid 70's filmed using a super8 cine camera. This is the digitally restored version of my other video with some extra footage.

I came across this on youtube; it's amateur footage of Celtic in the 70's.

Our first goal against Valencia appears to be officially counted as an o.g. but Bobby Carroll got our second goal anyway.

Thought it was Paddy Crerand, not our 1st venture into Europe, a few years before we played in the Friendship Cup in France.

Carroll was definitely the first Celtic player to score in an official Europeasn competition, in the first leg against Valencia. Crerand got one of our goals in the 2nd leg.

The Friendship Cup was an invitation event for clubs that didn't qualify for any of the official competitions. I've read somewhere that the first leg against Sedan in France was watched by 3,000 and ............. only ONE of them was a Celtic fan ! I can't remember where I read it - probably an old issue of The Celt.

Thats some find .
As a guess would say it might be 74-75 season as the Main Stand hasn't yet been rebuilt in the video?

Also, King Kenny is playing so definately pre-1970. EDIT pre-1977

The visiting team could be Ayr or Clyde - mainly white with red & black?
As was customery then, the home team wore their 2nd strip in the event of colur clash etc., rather than the away team.
its 75 or after, TB is playing.

i think dundee and falkirk both had similar strips as well around then

I did wonder about the strips. When was it that they changed to using second strips at away grounds?

Seen this Vid a few times but never thought about what game it was, think its the 75-76 season against Ayr and if correct its no wonder the young bhoys were not interested in the game, they beat us 2-1.

Edit} This is a good vid which most of us have seen, watching it now and hear the lonesome boatman playing in the background, not staying in on a saturday night again
