Correctamundo. The Toon 'keeper that day was Gordon Marshall Sr.

Uninteresting fact: Dundee United scored five goals at home against Hearts in the SC that day, but still lost.... 6-5!!!

The only reason we played them, away and home, was that both clubs had been unexpectedly put out of the respective cups. :(

They played us at CP on a Friday night toward the end of the season; Newcastle won 3-2. Earlier that day the Huns withdrew from a Glasgow Cup tie against us as they wanted to concentrate on the League (they were a point a head with about four games to go). The favoured chant ad infinitum that night was 'The Huns are feart tae play us, the Huns are feart tae play us'. The Hun strategy worked, we won the league by two points.

Would that be a young Steve Archibald with the long hair or is it to early for him.
It's too early for Archibald: he didn't join Clyde until 1974... that game is from 1971/72.

A couple of pics from the reverse fixture the previous season:

Otis - hope you don't think I'm being pedantic but Chalmers is in there so it can't be 71/72 as he left in May 1971.

Could it be the Glasgow cup final of May 1971 ?

By the way I have no recollection in Clyde ever playing us in red.

Can't say I recall that.

I've just checked the first Playing for Celtic book and there's a photo in it of Stein shaking hands with Brogan after the match against St. Etienne and it's the same strip as the Morton semi final. My memory is better than I thought.
