October 1895. Did we play in the hoops well before 1903 when it became our home strip?
The 3 games we played before this report was against St Bernards, Linthouse and Dumbarton, all away from home in the days when the away team wore their home strip.
The last home game before this report was against Hearts in our biggest ever home defeat to this day, 5-0.

I think your barking up the wrong tree here boss and as you know nothing in our history tells us we wore the hoops before 1903.

After looking out a few team photos from 1895, the only explanation i can come up with is Celtic changed the colour of their stripes, In the record Victory against Dundee (11-0) played on the 26th October 1895 a report tells us there was a clash of stripes before the game and Celtic had to change, Dundee wore a dark blue & white stripe that day and im pretty sure Celtic came out wearing a dark green & white stripe and were asked to change into a much lighter green as it would be less of a clash.

The image below shows the team that beat Dundee 11-0 that day and i believe this is the strip they ran out with before being asked or even ordered to change. The other image shows the much lighter green that we wore albeit 4/5 years earlier. Photographs from the time show we wore light green and dark green.

Still not sure what that report meant by "Not unlike QP in style" but i dont think it meant we wore hoops.

My guess would be spring 1970. Hood arrived in March 69 and wee Lou became a regular after new year 70.

Think your right. Looks like a very familiar image that featured in CELTIC : Britain's Finest magazine from 1970.

Ah - the good old days when to give the opposition a chance we used to play with only 8 players and no goalkeeper and still won the league on a regular basis.
