Does anyone remember the away game against them the following year which we lost heavily and perhaps unexpectedly?
The game was televised in black and white but most of the game was not covered due to some technical issue. I later found out the result was a 3-0 defeat.

Thistle at Firhill... no idea of the year.

EDIT: No numbers on the shorts, I notice.
Why such a big wall behind the goals with the ad on?

My thoughts too :ponder:

You forget that Firhill is built on a slope; that high wall is the top bottom end of the ground. The terracing opposite the main stand used to be at the same height, so I presume it was to keep the terracing on the same level all the way round.

There used to be a greyhound track at Firhill; many a dug came a cropper on those walls.

Many Thanks St Anthony for all your wonderful contributions - and the football cards. Brilliant.
I cannot access the qoute button and have tried to contact admin re issues.
More useless info..........
Big Tommy played ofcourse in the winning League Cup team for Dundee 1-0.
I'm sure Nobby/John Clarke if not Stevie cha cha Chalmers played in a Morton 1-0 victory in the old League Cup [Think the year of the advent of the new stand].
Willie Wispy Wallace may have played in a 2-2 draw at Boghead against us.
Cheers again. I think I told you before I'm heavily involved in St Ant's juniors today. We would probably know a few faces together.
HH

Ps Billy Hughes - Yogi's brother played in the Sunderland defeat of Celtic 2-1 that you kindly shared.
Strange but true

Agree flc - I would say 1962/1963 team pic for a few reasons relating to those in the pic.

Pat Crerand was punted Feb 1963 so not 63/64.

No Ten Thirty so not 61/62.

Bobby Lennox signed September/October 1961 so would not have featured in a 1961/62 pre season pic.

There are a few other reasons but possibly of interest to you flc is that the two Rankin brothers are in that one.

Amazing to think some of those youngsters in the Shamrock strip  TG. Jinky, Bobby Murdoch, John Clark would lift the Big Cup within 5/6 years.
I worked with a guy called Brian Connor who claimed he was on Celtic's books in the early 60's; I'm not sure if he's in that pic.

Aye CB Joe standing next to Fallon and Frank Rankin (RIP) right at the end of the back row. Great footballing family with the old man Archie playing for a few Junior clubs including Pollok and his son Stan had a good career playing for Morton. Another son Stevie was in my class at school and played football at a good level, spoke to him recently and hes doing well managing Ashfield.

Joe Rankin tells a good story about how his dad used to pick up Bertie Peacock in his coal lorry at Kennyhill Square in Dennistoun and dropped him off outside Celtic Park on a Saturday when Celtic and Bertie were playing at home.

I actually have that image taken just a few seconds before TWGs, His is a press photo and much clearer than the one i have, the one i have was taken a few seconds earlier as Jinky has his arms folded and i think he was told by the photographer to put his hands on his knees like all the other seated players

No Brian Connor in that image Otis.
you wont find brian connor in any celtic team photos . its all in his own mind ,

That was after BJ assured the fans that he was finished after having cartilage removed from his knee.

I was gutted when he scored that day. :(

Front row, first from left with shamrock kit is Willie Smith, gorbals Bhoy who ended up at Brentford. Still has a season ticket in north stand with his Bhoy!

Hail Hail Wullie and Anton
