Lochee Celtic

Did not know there was such a thing until I saw the photo in the pub here. The Indian doctor has Saggar Street in Dundee named for him.
Anyone have more information on this and the good Doctor?
Turns out Saggar St was actually named for his brother

A great piece. Thanks for the info.

Short trousers, in that weather !

What game TWG ?

Difficult to say if it's the old Celtic end or Rangers end ?
No surprised that nobody is having a go at saying what end it is :brickwall:

Difficult to tell and even harder to date as not many pics of the stadium exist from the early 60s, At first sight it looked like the hun end but then again it could have easily been the Celtic end.

The angle it was took doesn't help but i think the clues are in this image which says to me its the east terracing although that is probably Celtic fans standing in it, which i did many a time as a kid.

At the risk of getting into another is it Hampden or Parkhead style diatribe, if it is early 60s I think it has to be the rangers end.

Reasons because as far as I know, and being only 39 I may well be wrong, but I think the old acetic end roof went up in the late 50s and the old huns end roof went up in around 1968 or so?

If all this is the case, then it has to be the rangers end I think, because the Celtic end would have been covered in the early 60s.

Can any older members either confirm or set me straight?...

Also, lack of floodlights migh be a clue.

When did they go up? Mid 60s?

If so, it is definitely the early 60s and then likely to be the rangers end.

Happy days! Not a Wi-Fi, mobile phone, replica jersey or pizza slice anywhere to be seen. Just good old-fashioned Scottish football in the rain. I hope and pray those times return!

Tried zoomong in on board up the back. Maybe two digits. 13?
That would make it the rangers end.
Either that or I am talking shi-ite as usual.

No debate needed here ghuys. Nae roof means its the Old Rangers end.

The half roof in the Celtic End went up in 57, the big roof in the Rangers End in 1968.
This pic shows how small the Old Rangers End was from the front of the terrace to the back, a point i've made a few times that it must have been extended at the back when the roof went up in 68. Never had any clarification from older bhoys though.

did that small fence at the front go all around the stadium? I remember it at the Celtic end but not the Rangers end
