Some shockingly bad pics from April 2nd 1988 - 23 years exactly this forthcoming Saturday - Hibs 0 Celtic 2. The Bhoys march on towards the title. Goals came from IIRC a first-half Diving header from Andy Walker and after the break a screamer from Peter Grant.

Apart from the goals the abiding memories of this game was a CS gas cannister being thrown on the terraces and leaving the ground with "I'm Not Scared" from the Patsy Kensit fronted Eighth Wonder blaring from the Easter Road tannoy.

As you can see I was no Antsplan

This wasn't that game - the CS gas was earlier in the season, 1-0 McAvennie winner. As for the playing of Eight Wonder, I am not going to argue

This was a great win though, the terracing behind the goal was packed.

For some reason I'm sure there was an incident - perhaps smoke bomb rather than CS - on that day as well. In the vicinity of the McEwan Lager sign. Nothing on the scale like what was seen earlier in the season though. Although my memory could have merged two games!

I've genuinely never heard of any incident from that game - obviously the previous game that season was a major one - if there was one this game, it must have been quite small.

I was on the terrace behind the goal - there was a definite feel upon leaving that game that the league was in the bag, think the fact that Hearts won at Ibrox helped as well! A great day.

Cs gas game was definitely earlier in the season,October or November time maybe? My abiding memory of the game human torpedo has pictured was a brilliant YNWA just before the end.

We had won 1 - 0 at Pittodrie in the midweek before this game, and i think the fact we had won at two difficult away venues in the same week was seen a huge step towards the title.

I was at that game in the Hibs End it was pay at the gate and the queues were mental.

We thought it was a fight between the fans that had spilled onto the pitch.

Nice pics THT

THT - My abiding memory of that game is still being sloshed from beating Aberdeen the previous Wednesday. I was 22 then, those were the days.

Andy Walker scored in both the above games and Grant hit a pile driver past Goram.

Did the Huns lose to Hearts at Ibrox on the same day?

It is.The few miles around CP was the most industrialised area in Europe /the world at one time. That produced a working class in need of distraction from the daily grind.Celtic are a product of that context as much as anything else.
