jimmy reid at the 1972 scf big celtic fan
Jimmy Reid :worthy:

My hero! I really worship very few people. For me it's not enough to be simply famous, I have to admire your principles and humanity. Who had more of both than Jimmy Reid?

Never knew he was a Celtic fan though...
Jimmy Reid got a mention tonight on the radio (BBC R2 Simon May) when Alan Johnson, former Home Sec was guest.

Self-educated, as in left school at 15.

These days, it seems impossible to imagine any 15 year old+ not going through the University route to make any sort political career or impact in these political times.

As you so rightly say, we all have our flaws and very few people are as principled and deserving of respect in recent political circles.

Proud to say that Jimmy was a Govan man like myself and went to St Gerard's school.

Well known fact that he was a big Celtic fan and a big pal of Jock Stein's.

Very surprised at that.Certainly knew he was a good friend of Steins, but my recollection was that he was a hun.His weekly piece in the record was compulsive reading, but Im sure he wrote an article around 84 about the copeland road end singing to the govan stand "theres only tims in the govan",over some in hun fighting about Cammy Fraser.Reid took great exception.

Really,really hope Im wrong csc.

Hi, my first post on here! Been lurking for a while ... love all these pics from when I used to go to the games, I haven't been since early eighties but these bring back happy days. Didnt he score an own goal that day? Also what a crowd for St. Mirren? it looks mobbed at the corner behind him!
Sorry to go back to this, but didn't we have the crest in the centre of the jersey that season? Doesnt seem to be there....
john
We wore the strip with no crest on at least two occasions in 77-78
