Thats a belter  a place i know so well.

Any other old timers recognise the garage?
Cumbernauld Road just after Provan Road?

JJ

Yes the garage on Cumbernauld Road and the Provan Road with Alexandra Park and Todd St in the background, The pictures across the road was the Rex and some of the older east enders might remember their ABC minors on a Saturday morning. This would be the route taken by the Celtic team bus and supporters going to places like Dundee and Aberdeen and not far from where i would hitch a lift to away games as a wee Bhoy.

The motor looks brand new which i think would date the photo to between January and August 1967, possibly a sponsored car by Skelly's and thats why Jock was up that neck of the woods getting his pic taken.

There were 2 together. The Rex, and slightly further up the road was The Vogue......if that is Cumbernauld Rd.
Yes. think the vogue is still there I think as a bingo hall.

Anyone remember which cinema of the two played The Hippy Hippy Shake as you left? Seemed to play this every day and night for about 2 years. A bit like Band of Gold at Parkhead.

Band of Gold  Happy Days. The Night that Drove Old Dixie Down and Cotton Fields must have been in the charts for the same number of years. It's a funny old thing the memory. There are season I look back on and can barely remember a game, but I still can clearly hear those three tunes getting belted out as I scoured the Celtic end for gingies.

Going further back, I seem to remember that the pre-match songs were the same for about three seasons; in particular, Ghost Rider In The Sky seemed to be a permanent fixture on the 'playlist'. Just remembered another three: I Remember You, Johnny Remember Me, and Island of Dreams.

Take your pick from:

Szántó Gábor
Néder István
Kerekes János
Teodoru I. Borisz
Oláh Ferenc
Fükő Sándor
Görgei János
Szlifka Miklós (62' Czél Imre)
Magyar Balázs (46' Teodoru II. Vaszilisz)
Borostyán Mihály

My money's on the guy in bold.

EDIT: Here's a pic of him from 1985/86; he played for DVTK from 1971-1987:
