I know it's pointless, it I occasionally wonder if anyone knew this guy, who he was and how he ended up. He looks as if he'd be around 20 at the time and if I recall, it was about 1981 or 82? :ponder:
November 1980 in 2-0 defeat.

When wee Gordo took over as manager in 2005 they interviewed that guy who was mortified to be reminded of it.

Said that incident had lost him his job and caused a lot of grief :(

Says a lot for Strachan that he actually took it after all that

Would loved to have had him at CP as a player. IMHO he was the last real class player this country has produced.
I think you're right. Martin Buchan was a little before Strachan's time but if not.......

God! Was it that far back

No wonder I'm hazy on it all.

Poor bastard though. I'm sure it very likely wasn't the sole factor in his downward spiral, but nonetheless a high price to pay for being an idiot when you were young.

If I had suffered for every moment of teenage idiocy I'd be existing in kind of purgatory of my own making where every day is like black Sunday, rapid vienna and the final day of 2002/03 season rolled into one.

I was kind of hoping that someone would post that they knew the guy and he wasn't really as bad as he was made out to be, or something.

Yes, he was clearly an idiot as a young man, maybe he's not even got that much better, but I don't like to hear of people having a bad time in life.
That guy looks like Neale Cooper who played for Aberdeen

I was a bit too fond of the bevvy in those days, but I vaguely recall great trips up to Pittodrie and the bus staying till midnight. On the football side I recall being very annoyed at how good their defence was..........and don't start me on wee Joe Harper. At least they beat us legally.

Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure Strachan's attacker was a Denny Bhoy, Snowy Malone might confirm this?

Trying to find a picture of my Granda Patrick Slaven(Slavin), he was a trainer at CP about 1944ish. I've spoken to my mum(82)and she remembers Bobby Evans and a black player among others visiting her house and her going to Ireland with the team.

I remember seeing a pic years ago which looked like a team photo with my Granda in it but i can' t find it.. He was also a great boxing trainer at Blantyre Boxing and trained "Boy" McIntosh who fought Benny Lynch, although he tried to stop McIntosh from taking the fight McIntosh went onto fight Lynch and was beaten unconscious.

Any help finding the photo or any further info would be great.

Was there not two separate Strachan incidents?
