I was at both games when wee Gordon was "approached" by Celtic fans on the pitch, but I can't remember much about the games. Can anyone fill me in? What was the build up to the two incidents? It's starnge to think that he was attacked twice and yet it never seemed to happen when we played the piss artists formerly known as Rangers.
I was at the game at Celtic park and to be honest I think the only reason wgs got attacked was because we were losing 2-0.THe attack got the biggest cheer from the jungle that day!
That was the closest any Celtic man got to Strachan that day.

Shameful episode that was enjoyed hugely at the time.Copious amounts of the drink and an Aberdeen team who knew how to humble us on our own patch, with Strachan the main orchestrator were the main contributors to the on pitch protest.
Always surprised me that it never happened to him when he was our manager, given the levels of vitriol towards him in some of our support. :ph43r:

I know it's pointless, it I occasionally wonder if anyone knew this guy, who he was and how he ended up. He looks as if he'd be around 20 at the time and if I recall, it was about 1981 or 82? :ponder:

November 1980 in 2-0 defeat.

When wee Gordo took over as manager in 2005 they interviewed that guy who was mortified to be reminded of it.

Said that incident had lost him his job and caused a lot of grief :(

Says a lot for Strachan that he actually took it after all that

Would loved to have had him at CP as a player. IMHO he was the last real class player this country has produced.

I have the original press photo for that :)

Had to move the game to Hampden to accomodate the 70,000+ crowd. For a friendly

God! Was it that far back

No wonder I'm hazy on it all.

Poor bastard though. I'm sure it very likely wasn't the sole factor in his downward spiral, but nonetheless a high price to pay for being an idiot when you were young.

If I had suffered for every moment of teenage idiocy I'd be existing in kind of purgatory of my own making where every day is like black Sunday, rapid vienna and the final day of 2002/03 season rolled into one.

I was kind of hoping that someone would post that they knew the guy and he wasn't really as bad as he was made out to be, or something.

Yes, he was clearly an idiot as a young man, maybe he's not even got that much better, but I don't like to hear of people having a bad time in life.
