Scored in a New Year game against them.

Career high point no doubt.

Proved to be so good we bought Pierce O'Leary.

Willie's wife Audrey in the pic was Audrey Douglas who was Jimmy McGrory's Secretary at Celtic Park for many years - I have been told by a few ex players who were around the scene that "Audrey held the place together" at various points during the bad times.

Sadly as cartuja knows Audrey passed away fairly recently.
Don't know about the current situation, but fairly sure I spoke to her a few months after that post, when she was still looking after WF. BF (no. 1 son) at St Joe's Primary in same class as me, and I am on speaking terms with Mrs F's brother, Norman D. WF was incredibly youthful looking... Totally out of it, but youthful looking to the last.
Haven't been on Kds for about six weeks so only catching up on this.

I guarantee you didn't speak to Audrey after I posted that as I was at her funeral in St.Joseph's and Audrey died on 22nd October 2010 - I also know Norrie so next time you speak to him he will confirm the dates for you.

I remember having a run in with Francie at the 'rangers end' of Celtic park during the sack the board season.
If you remember,we were trying to have an empty East terracing as a show of protest against the board.
He was going nuts, and telling us we were not true celtic fans and how dare we protest against the board.
Still see him in the main stand and would love to talk to him about his love for the old board, just to get his view on it.
Never going to happen though, don't want to get barred from Paradise!
Trumpet.
This occurred to me when I saw this pic but I wasn't going to say anything.

I was at that game as well (St Johnstone ?) and he was trying to provoke some of the guys from the Govan Emerald into doing something rash. In the end they gave him a mouthfull and told him to piss off.

The Celtic supporters association was irrevocably damaged by that whole period with the likes of Hinton, Brodie and Delaney all taking the side of the board because they had vested interests. They weren't bad guys but they were very, very misguided. If they had taken Fergus's side the whole takeover thing would have gone through quicker and they would have had respect.

Wee Fergis wasn't slow in dismissing them.
Is Francie the guy who is far left in pic'? Did he not have the franchise for selling the papers outside Queen St station. Quite a money spinner in it's day before RS McColl and Menzies came on the scene. If it is the same guy he spent his life between the paper stall and posing outside the main entrance at Celtic Park. I did see him giving it to Sandy Jardine in Queen st station about the then signing policy of that once great institution (sic) back in the old days. If it is the same guy he must be some age.

He was a concierge in Sighthill... not sure if he still is; but I'm told he can be found either in Quin's or the Tote in Bishopbriggs.

I spotted Francie Hinton sitting behind me in the main stand on Tuesday ... Looked a good age now - I'm no spring chicken, but I remember him selling the 1st edition papers in Shettleston over 35 years ago

Poor soul.

I remember him and Pierce O'Leary being the worst central defensive pairing in my living memory. He was really not very good at all but getting dogs abuse on KDS and the thought of one of our less talented players ending up a concierge in sighthill, somehow really depresses me

He was total pish, but bear in mind he would probably still be able to keep the ball off of most of us in a telephone box even now. He probably was best player in his primary and secondary school, best player in his local youth team, a very good player at Eastercraigs, and impressive in the Celtic reserves to get his chance, upon which he totally fell off a cliff.

He seems from that interview to be a died in the wool Celtic fan, who was lucky enough to play for the club, score a goal against the huns and win a trophy on an amazing day.

Career highlight would no doubt be Love Street '86. We're it not for that game and that goal against the huns he'd have slipped away from Celtic with absolutely no footnote in our history.

God knows why I'm getting all maudlin  but good luck wherever you are big man, and sorry for heckling you almost every time you played.
