I think that might be the 4-4 game. The only others I could think of would be 0-1 with Durrant scoring or the 0-2 defeat on New Years day 1987, but I'm sure the weather was much worse then. Sleet and snow from memory.

I think this is the 3-0 pumping we got on the day Mark McGhee made his debut.

Dave McKinnon would have been one of the first out the door when Souness arrived.

Is that franie Hinton?
I remember having a run in with Francie at the 'rangers end' of Celtic park during the sack the board season.
If you remember,we were trying to have an empty East terracing as a show of protest against the board.
He was going nuts, and telling us we were not true celtic fans and how dare we protest against the board.
Still see him in the main stand and would love to talk to him about his love for the old board, just to get his view on it.
Never going to happen though, don't want to get barred from Paradise!
Trumpet.
This occurred to me when I saw this pic but I wasn't going to say anything.

I was at that game as well (St Johnstone ?) and he was trying to provoke some of the guys from the Govan Emerald into doing something rash. In the end they gave him a mouthfull and told him to piss off.

The Celtic supporters association was irrevocably damaged by that whole period with the likes of Hinton, Brodie and Delaney all taking the side of the board because they had vested interests. They weren't bad guys but they were very, very misguided. If they had taken Fergus's side the whole takeover thing would have gone through quicker and they would have had respect.

Wee Fergis wasn't slow in dismissing them.

And to thus day the CSA still have 2 seats for life, just behind directors box.

Big Francie and Gerry McSherry.
What a combo.
The only two people on the planet that supported the Kelly/White mob in the final hours.
Like a couple of old veterans of the Confederate Army.
To be fair, Francie did actually go to see Celtic, Gerry McSherry admitted to me in 1995 he hadn't been to a Celtic game since 1980.
Think the guy had issues.
Wonder if Francie is still selling Sunday Mail's in Shettleston Rd.
Probably not.
Did that Gerry McSherry actually exist?
I always had him down as a plant.

I discounted that for some reason.

My recollection was that it was in December :ponder: And I seem to remember it being almost dark already by the time the game kicked off.

Davie Provan's last game for Celtic too as I recall.

4-4 was immediately pre-souness and McKinnon would have been playing.

Could be either if your recollection of the weather on the 3-0 is correct.

I attended a few of the association meetings at that time. It was mental and so frustrating. The committee, mainly Delaney from memory, argued that the constitution of the assoc prevented any protest as it would not allow for anything damaging to Celtic. Obviously rational people argued not doing anything was damaging Celtic. They had no vision or understanding of the shampoo we were in. Too many cosy relationships between CSA and old board.
