No names with the line-up so not sure myself, my guess is

Back Row: Billy Armour (take the high road) not sure if thats Pat Lally, Paddy Crerand, Big Billy, Baxter, Archie, Hugh Taylor? (Record and latterly ET columnist)

Front: Craig Brown, ones the provost of Glasgow and other of Rutherglen, Big Jock and does anybody else think the last guy looks like Billy McPhail?

This is like one ay those post-Lenin pictures that Stalin put out there to prove he was as important as he thought he was.

Whose heid did Craig Brown superimpose himself over?

Edit} infact Big Yogi ran that pub (much later than the photo) im sure he was the landlord when Trainspotting was filmed in it, they gave him a grand done it up to their liking and then got it redecorated to Big Yogis liking, the pub only opens on match days and never when the huns are playing, guy who owns it now is a good tim
Is the pub the old Springfield Tavern?

Or have I got my bearings completely wrong?

My mother has a scrapbook that I think was started (and never finished) by her older brother which would date it in the late 20's/early 30's I think.
I wonder if there's anything in that, that hasn't been seen before.

***I should point out it's a Celtic scrapbook***

Im no clued up on the scenes from Trainspotting but i know for a fact they used that pub for filming, i was drinking every other day with the actors and film crew in the Clansman (now called the Oak Bar), i went to see it the first night it was shown in the pics and recognised the oval bar, little did i know that some of them actors would become so famous,

Nice one mate i wish i could have been there. Went to a special screening recently so it been on my mind the last few weeks.

Oval bar sounds like the Edinburgh Festival scene.

I wonder if the bog in the Oak still smelled as bad when Ewan MacGregor used it lol

I was born in a tenement above the missing 4th corner ie not Flynn's, Tait's or the 30's tenements that are diagonally across from where the picture is taken from. I moved away in 1961 to all mod cons in Cranhill :) .

I would guess that picture was taken about 9:15 in the morning.

Celtic players on their way back from Barrowfield training would cut into that wee dairy below where you stayed, Im sure Big Roy Aitken was nipping the big blonde (Christine) whose mother owned it, she now owns it and does a great pie & peas.

Jimmy McStay leading out the side for the first time after the death of John Thomson.

Note the Black Armbands A very sad day in Celtic Parks history
Cheers FLC

Note the crowd, no one is applauding the side out, so in the words of the immortal song as Calton Bhoy pointed out.... 'The fans they all stood silent' :worthy:

As is the norm all the pubs are always known by their original names. I used to drink in Flynns when I stayed there then a crowd of us barred ourselves because of an arse of a manager and crossed the road. The guy who had Taits at the time was a good tim so he deserved a turn.
