Can't remember a game where they didn't lift the pillars in the main stand. what is the game?
Sorry I have no idea (Its a picture from my brothers collection), perhaps the stand was being renovated (new seats)?

Wasn't common but used to happen when bad weather was forecast during the early days of the new stand (although looking at that picture it doesn't seem too bad). Could be a reserve game as I don't think they used to lift them for those games.

Looks like we are wearing that awful people's number, so think that would make it around 91/92.

Only ever seen one keeper with such an inflexible back bend, so that has to be Packie in goals.

Can't be an important game as the main stand upper east where the tables that run along the front of the seats aren't full of the press, ie radio and MSM.

Plus the seats in the upper main were updated I think in 92 or 93 to modern day plastic ones rather than the backs of the seats all joined together, like in this photo.

Could be wrong though, God knows the opposition

Think that might be a friendly against New Zealand. Sure we played them in a friendly in the early 90's

It is 1991-92. There was a H&S survey at the start of that season and they determined
that seats had to be a certain distance from exits. That's why the seats furthest from
the exits are all empty. Celtic didn't sort it until summer 1992 IIRC.

I've watched Celtic in cup finals and in some of Europe's finest stadia at big, big games and that day was probably the most joyous of my Celtic Supporting life. No one really expected us to do it that day, but Paisley was rammed with us, rain sodden and miserable. At the final whistle I couldn't have cared less!

I reckon I do look back on it with a lot of nostalgia as the last true year of the type of football I grew up with.

Then The Beast took over at rangers and ushered in the start of four decades worth of financial largesse, bent leagues, cooked books, unsustainable spending...

I don't think I've enjoyed football for football's sake since the 80s.
What wilfrid said.
