I've watched Celtic in cup finals and in some of Europe's finest stadia at big, big games and that day was probably the most joyous of my Celtic Supporting life. No one really expected us to do it that day, but Paisley was rammed with us, rain sodden and miserable. At the final whistle I couldn't have cared less!

I reckon I do look back on it with a lot of nostalgia as the last true year of the type of football I grew up with.

Then The Beast took over at rangers and ushered in the start of four decades worth of financial largesse, bent leagues, cooked books, unsustainable spending...

I don't think I've enjoyed football for football's sake since the 80s.

One night when I was young (1972/73) I remember my Ma giving me money for the shop.

I bought a lucky bag for 3 pence (!!!) and this poster was in it. Had it for years before I lost it.

All these years I've looked for one and one came up on ebay last month.

Went for £28 !!! :Bye:

That slopey construction on top of the old North Stand at Hampden always fascinated me.

Always wondered that there must be some sort of steps and tiers within it?

Anyone ever get to watch a game from there?

John Hughes afters scoring against the huns (Mar 1996) in 1-1 game.... cracking picture....

John Hughes' performances in the 95/96 season were amongst the most consistent I have ever seen from any Celtic defender.

Guy hardly had a bad game. Have to admit I wasn't impressed when he signed but his effort and determination was an example to all.
I was at that game. That goal only made up for him losing Fat McLaren for the opening goal. :ph43r:

The original one was destroyed in a fire I believe. Otherwise it might've survived
until the stand was knocked down in the 1990s. Looks like the newer one doubled
the amount of hack space inside...

There must a few former occupants of that box - Horne, Archer, Taylor, McKenzie - birling in their graves at the standard of what passes for football journalism these days. :nono:

I think you're right... but, like a true Jedi Tim, I have all but erased any memory of that shampoo-pit.

That said, I do have particularly fond memories of a 3-0 humping we took there at New Year 1975: I
took a pleasantly attractive young Posted Image to the game, and then took 'shelter' for the rest of the week in her gaff from any huns of my acquaintance. :)
