Yep it's definately me, unless of course there's some other poor bugger out there that ugly! I looked up the score and saw it was 0-0 and that stirred a memory or two about it, the main one being that I went to the game myself on the underground ( I grew up in the gorbals).

What also strikes me is how things where so different then. My family had no problems letting me do this, but as a parent of a 10 year old Celtic daft son I know there's no way on earth I would even consider letting him do it. Doubt I'd even let him if he was 15 to be honest. Changed days eh?
I started going to games myself when I was about 10/11. The only games my parents stopped me going to were games against the oldco but I'd pretend I was playing football as a cover to get to these games.

Wouldn't dream of letting a 10 year old go to a game on his own now.

Iwas at that game not one of our finer nights ,however on our way from the train station to the ground
we did take a few bottles and bricks being thrown at us ,i had went down on the football special
and there was plenty Celtic fans a wee bit worse for wear by the time we got there.Ialso remember
loads of graffiti threats on the way to the ground .When the game started it wasnt going to take a lot for it to kick off
,speaking in later years to a lad i work with from Blackburn ,he told me loads of their fans where at the game also
.Iwas 16 at the time and remember seeing a boy from our school getting a bottle put over his head by A Burnley fan .

that photo at firhill caught my eye, because Im in it! Im the bored looking kid under the outstretched leg of the keeper. I was only 12 at the time. Strange thing is I have no recollection of this game at all. I assume we won?
That's mental

I'd love to see my Da in one of these pics. Was in a csc from Carnwadric/Thornliebank in the 60's.

I posted this story some years ago, but in the light of the Burnley Express articles it's probably worth repeating.

When I was "stepping out" with Mrs BC in 1981, I was dragged up to Burnley to meet her parents. She forewarned me that her dad was a bit shy and dour and struggled to make conversation. I sat down with him to have a chat.

"Do you like gardening?" he asked.

"Eh, no, I've never had a garden."

Pregnant silence.

"Do you like football then?"

"Oh yes, I love football."

"Who do you support then?"

"Celtic."

"Bloody hell. The last time that lot came here they wrecked the bloody place."

Not exactly a great introduction to my (soon to be) in-laws. Thirty years on, he is now a big 88 year old fan. He's been to the No 7 lounge, Kerrydale Suite and the Champions Lounge. I pay his ESPN sub every year and go to watch the games with him. Sammy is his hero!!

BC - It was me who asked. Thanks for that, will get them on the wiki. You are right that was a balanced piece.

The below pic was taken at Ibrox in 1977 and gives an example of how hairy Celtic games could be in the 70's.
