it was sept 13th 1969 hibs beat celtic 2-1 a crowd of 45,000. jinky opened the scoring for celtic in the first half . hamilton and stanton scored for hibs to give them the victory

Typical crowd 'estimate' from the old board !

For there to have been a crowd of 45,000 at that match the 'away' end would have had to have been virtually empty !

I always thought it was Sr.Mary's - A copy of it used to hang in St.Mary's Chapel house at one point.

Someone else has since told me they think it was at St.Joseph's, Dumfries.

Given it hung in St.Mary''s I would say there is probably a connection but I have no idea tbh.

I havent been in for a while, but last time I was in there whilst taking one of my boys to the bathroom, probably around 2 years ago, that picture was still up in the chapel house.

Not sure with Monsignor gone if that has now changed?

What does he know?

Its probably one of the most important and only photograph in our early history that ties in the Marist's with Celtic, I think we can definitely rule out St Mary's which only has 3 steps to the front of the chapel, cant think of anywhere else in the Chapel or School grounds were it could have been took. I wish i had taken a photo of the many stairs at the main entrance of St Joseph's college as im pretty sure thats were it was taken, Brother Dunstan was the Headmaster of St Joe's circa when John Thomson played for us and the most like scenario is the photo was taken just before Celtic travelled to America or when they returned which was in 1931, if thats the case Johnny was to die just a few month later.
