Spot on FLC that's exactly what happened. Folk sat on the eastern boundary wall of Janefield St cemetery to watch the game.

Looking at that cemetery wall from Janefield St that looks like an entrance that has been bricked up between the 2 pillars.

Who are Celtic playing in this photo? Dundalk?
I think Celtic played Dundalk in Europe . Jimmy Hasty, later murdered by loyalist paramilitaries, lost an arm as a kid, played for Dundalk.
Dundalk play in white shirts and black shorts. Could be a change strip.

Only speculating.

So the Rangers End used to be uncovered. Then they put a roof up which was longer than the one at the Celtic End?!? Used to be amazed that the away fans at Celtic Park were completely sheltered from the elements while those in the front half of the main Celtic terracing weren't :cuckoo: Gotta love those ole Custodians of ours!

My living room looked on to Love St (I mean the ground) but I was totally oblivious to what was happening - I was in 1st year at uni with 2 kids and had only come back to the country the year before - fitba' was the least of my worries.....

Anyway, I'd booked a taxi to go to my ma's at tea-time - usually, by that time, the crowds had gone. But not this time......

The Council were doing some work so there was a portakabin in the wee cul-de-sac there (just next to the pub) and I went down to wait for the taxi with the weans - dressed up in their navy blue dresses, with white polka dots and red ribbons......... Honest - my mammy bought them and that's why they had them on.

So - if any of you were the young guys on the portakabins who flashed their erchies at me and my weans - no, we werenae huns! And we forgave you immediately - worth a flashing when I found out what it was all about!

Exactly CH. The half roof went up in 57 with the excuse that because of the mining shafts underneath they couldn't do a bigger roof.
Hun end roof went up in 67.

I remember those old mining shaft stories but as CP was originally a disused brickfield i wonder where the mine shaft stories would have originated?
Any experts on?

Only speculating.
First impressions are that's v Rangers at CP in the late 50s as its deffo Neil Mochan in the hoops.
There weren't any subs in those days so it's possible that player may have done something to his wrist or arm and it looks as if its in a sling inside his top to allow him to play on!

Good time later was the Dundalk game.

It is Dens Park

The white wooden barrier runs round the full track in all old photos I've checked, Mochan must be at the bye-line as behind each goal was a curved terrace back then.

I would take a stab at the Dundee player being Ian Ure, who later signed for Spurs with Alan Gilzean
