From a Liverpool archive: Posted Image

Liverpool and Celtic played in the second leg of the European Winners Cup Semi-final on 19th April 1966. in the In a pay-at-the turnstile era when anyone could take a bottle of into the ground, Celtic had brought 10,000 fans, an army to rank with the Spion Kop in terms of noise and ardour for their team. They’d felt they should have had a penalty at the death (which would have brought the teams level) and let their disgust be known in the form of hundreds and thousands of bottles hurled from the Anfield Road End onto the pitch.

Shankly turned to Stein and said: “Do you want your share of the gate money, Jock? Or will you just return the empties?”

whose the ref sending jinky off is it ian foote
Is that him getting sent against St. Johnstone after an off-the-ball scuffle with Kenny Aird? Think the game finished 1-1.
That was my fist game at paradise. I think Aird was probably about an inch smaller than Jinky.

That happened near the halfway line right in front of the Jungle too. A nice right hand from Jinky floored Aird.:D

Jinky started to walk towards the dressing room before the Referee had his pencil and notebook out. Nae red cards in those days.
I think you will find that this sending off was against Aberdeen in 1973 and Jinky didn't go quietly as Bobby Davidson had simply booked him but linesman Jim Renton claimed to have seen Jimmy use violent conduct. He was rightly incensed as the photos here show: http://www.thecelticwiki.com/page/1973-03-17%3A+Celtic+0-0+Aberdeen%2C+Scottish+Cup+-+Pictures

Was in the main stand at that game and remember it as you said. We were all so excited to see the great man return and within minutes he was off again.
