You've got the wrong game, boys. That's the December 1972 League Cup final which had a crowd of over 71.000. Hibs won 2-1. The 6-1 game that had the crowd of 106,000, Celtic were still wearing the classic round neck hoops. In this game they are wearing the V with the collar.

Interesting to note the attendance and how full Hampden looks when you consider that almost twice that crowd (136,000) were at the Leeds ECSF a couple of years earlier.

Edit - Hmmmm, on closer examination, maybe Jinky is wearing the round neck hoops.
It's hard to see a collar but the give away is Dixie is behind Jinky and he didn't play in the 72 LCF.
is it definately dixie behind jinky and not macari?

I know I got a lift in so there must have been 120,000 when you include all the lifts, double shuffles and bungs at the turnstiles.

I seem to recall that it was pitch dark for most of the 2-1 game?

LC final played then in December?

Have to say that crowd looks more like 100k plus to me

When you enlarge the picture it is definitely the round collar strip.

I dont think the Hibs shirts had embroidery on the shirts for the LCF ,but they did in the 6-1 game.

Game against hibs aint the LCF of December '72 as that was played in darkness - as I seem to recall despite being an afternoon kick off due to the weather!

Missed some of the action on the park because of the action off it in the Rankers end

Mental doesn't cover it - no segregation - no way to recognise friend or foe until it was too late

Is that Jim Brogan defending goal, behind Billy and Tommy Callaghan in mid field looking on? Oh dear, think you changed the picture. Was referring to the one above this photo. Post 9196.
