About the Queens Park Reserves game. Photo was from The Celtic View Feb 12th 1969. You are right St Anthony. There was no first team game that week. Said that there was a big freeze and there was a worry about a fixture pile up. The team was given as Fallon, McGrain, Gorman, John Clark,Connelly, Callaghan, Wilson, Dalglish, McMahon, Macari, Auld. Vic Davidson was the sub. Celtic won 3-1 and the scorers were Davidson, Auld and Wilson.
The period from 1969-71 saw Celtic have the best squad ever in Scottish football.

First 11: Simpson Craig Gemmell Murdoch McNeill Brogan Johnstone Lennox Wallace Auld Hughes Sub Chalmers

Reserves: Fallon McGrain Gorman Hay Connelly Clark Hood Dalglish Macari Callaghan Davidson Sub Cattenach

Awesome talent.

Any of the old timers remember the name of the restaurant that the Celtic used for meals after games etc. It was, if I remember right, situated

at the corner of Buchanan St and Cathedral St and was one stair up, very popular restaurant. Would it be Ferrari's ????.
Ferrari's - Sauchiehall Street near West Nile Street I think.

CB, For what its worth, I traced this down by checking out Mitchell Library and came across a picture of the very restaurant.

It was on the corner I mentioned and had a sign on the building "The Buchanan". One stair up above a pub

and the name of that was the Fiftys Pub I believe. I remembered the big window at the corner and the dining

table must have been right there as you would see the players as you passed on the bus. I remember waiting on the team coming back

there after the final of coronation cup game. I had just finished my National Service that year. Hail Hail.

It's the view along Holywell Street. Google street view is out of date now too as it doesn't have the East End Road changes on it, but this'll show you where it is in relation to the stadium:

http://tinyurl.com/9fnjq2b
The houses in Holywell Street are no longer there but the big industrial building is still there. The houses at the far end of the photo (in Janefield Street) were demolished some time ago and that's where the bus car park at the back of the Jock Stein Stand is now located. I think that the former Rangers player Ian Ferguson used to live in one of those Janefield Street houses.
He did indeed stay on Janefield St, last close before the graveyard

This is the oldest guide ive got. The extract from the Secretary's Report is an absolutely fascinating read.

No reason for doubting st.anthony, but the mention of Dundalk makes we think that the bearded guy on the left looks a lot like a young Dermot Keely.
Keely played with Dundalk late 70's early 80's.

Exactly my thoughts. Looks like the Dundalk strip too.

I know it's looking from behind, but the keeper could be Richie Blackmoor.
