Salim Khan :worthy:

Fantastic  Love this story, one I have known after reading years back! Unreal it was captured on camera

The Indian had 2 trials with us, one v Galston (put £100 on the gate) and one v Hamilton Accies reserves (5,000 crowd), he had never worn football boots, so instead Jimmy McMenemy bound his feet with 2 1/2'' thick bandages.

Good call

It could well be the 1969 Cup Final.

Although we won 4-0 it wasn't quite as easy as you suggest (a bit like the 6-2 game if you like). Things just went our way that day. They had plenty of the play and that wee bastard Willie Johnston caused us plenty of problems, just as he always did.
Looks more like CP to me.

An Ferguson wore No9 for that final.
New to the site so sorry if this has been answered, the Celtic Players from left to right are McNeil, Gemmell, Oneil and Simpson. Rangers players are Persson and number 8 John Greig, by the look of the socks Rangers and the ball boys are wearing I would guess this was played at Ibrox.

Looking forward to going through the rest of these photos.

That pic looks like it might be from the League game at CP in September 1968 when the huns won 4-2.

Dont think so Otis i stood in that old enclosure at CP a few times and dont remember it being so steep or deep it was quite a narrow enclosure.

The green barrier at the front on the enclosure and the green wood on top of the wall at the front of the stand both confirm it for me as being CP.

EDIT: The personnel in the pic fit in with this match.

That's Alex Ferguson (No 8) jumping for the ball.

That means, in my view, that it was 24th August 1968: Celtic 1-0 Rangers, League Cup Section at Celtic Park.

Theres a video on the Wiki that confirms it

Ferguson wasn't number 8 in the 2-4 game referred to above.

Just watched footage of the game you mention: Willie O“Neill doesn“t appear to have played in that match; however he did play in the 4-2 match. :hmmm:

EDIT: Just checked the line-ups for the 4-2 game: Ferguson wasn“t even on the bench for the huns, so it must the 1-0 game right enough.

My recollection of the early 70's is that Martin Chivers or Martin Peters scored every single Spurs goal between them.

Peters joined Spurs about 1970 ,think he might have been brought into bolster up the front
2 of Chivers and Gilzean. I can recall one of the Saturday afternoon football slots on tv
doing a throw in competition ,im sure big Chivers won it.

He scored a few against Scotland as well.

Was more of a Colin Bell man myself.
