Good wee pic that one ,i see Franco [rip] from the Brazen Head ,and is that Tam Cad with the
hoops on.
More like a publican's Vegas convention

As you say Franco (Brazen Head) and Cad (Bairds) Robert who Tam's being held up by used to have the Sarry Heid.

Helenio Herrera was nicknamed here in Italy as Il Mago - the Wizard. i aks for a confirm of this telling by a friend of mine: Herrera attended the last game of season at Ibrox (BBC images show him with pen and paper in the Stand) and he invited Big Jock to fly back in Italy to attend the Inter match in Turin the following day. but in Glasgow Herrera told to Stein the offer was no more, as the airplane to fly in Italy have seats too small for Big Jock. Stein flyed to Turin, but at the airport the courtesy car organised by Herrera didn't materialised. psycological moments ...... anyone can confirm this ?
HH
Something like this was mentioned in the Archie McPherson Stein biography, yeah. Mind games indeed!

Clincher v Dundee, taken from the Rangers End, overspill crowd from Celtic End making there way round track.

Cracker! iirc that was around the 15min mark, after being squeezed onto the pitch at the Celtic end
we were hearded around to that area in huns end that divided away fans from celtic fans who stood in the
huns end.

Brilliant pic. :worthy:
would not rule out the Brockville idea due to the "Irn-Bru" advert but the enclosure is way too big for my recollection ,maybe the playing surface was moved towards the main stand at some point though.

Falkirk being the home of Iron Brew and the fact that Patsy played for them kinda leaned me towards Brockville even though i have never seen a early image of Brockville, looking at it again Patsy is quite young in the photo and that has made me alter my view. Believe it or not this is almost certainly a game against QP at Celtic Park and if thats so its probably ground breaking by showing the Grant Stand with that advertisement :worthy:

We wore the all green away with white collar for one season only 1918-19, this would tie in :)

You know me GR i just had to try and find out so i contacted David Potter who showed a similar image missing the ad in his "The Mighty Atom" book,

Quote:

The fact that he is wearing a plain jersey need not surprise us because they often wore the plain green against Queen's Park, and in these days the Home team was just as likely to change as the Away team, on the grounds that they would have a spare set of strips handy! The crowd is poor! And they look as if they are protected against the cold, so it is not midsummer. I would guess 22 March 1919 when Celtic beat them 2-0 before 16,000.

Good lad David

Quite a few images of the Grant Stand going about JJ but none as close as that QP one, a major find IMO

I have to agree that it's Celtic Park, probably on 22nd March 1919. Celtic won 2-0 according to the Wiki. No team line-up, though.

Back in the day, it was the home team who wore their second strip if there was a clash of colours.

I am now convinced its the Grant Stand at Celtic Park. If you pause the movie in the link below at 1:01 you can clearly see the pillars that support the upper part of the stand that are also shown in Patsy's pic. The film is from 1921.

Spot on FLC, thats deffo the Grant Stand at CP and groundbreaking at that too.
Where's the source for this pic?

DP has a very grainy pic of the Grant Stand in one of his books which confirm we had a massive Irn Bru ad on it.
The Janefield St enclosure roof had a massive ad for the Weekly News i think it was at the same time which ran the full length of it.
Advertising was massive in the 20s.

The huns even had the Bovril Stand with a big bovril ad on the roof of their enclosure.
In fact it was the huns who were first approached by Bovril in the 1890s to introduce pies and bovril at their games.
Fat hun bastards even in those days.
