I reckon that's the SC QF from 1970 (3-1 to the good guys). Jim Craig opened the scoring with an o.g. on 5 minutes, but my abiding memory of the game is Davie Hay's screamer on the 70(?) minute mark from about 25 yards to make it 3-1. :ynwa:

Cairney tells a story that Willie Wallace broke his wrist that day hooking Johnston off the ball after what he did to Jim.

Craig missed johnston but hooked stein who also patted Jim's head after his o.g. Willie Wallace hooked johnston as he(johnston) ran past him on way to half-way line. Davie Hay scored on 85 and Jinx in final minute from the bye-line. The greatest derby I ever attended, Celtic terrified them that day.

The scoreboard.......it's been 45 years since I saw that  - I don't think I've seen a pic of it since the RE was covered.

Great pic

Any idea why the scoreboard was placed where it was nearest the Jungle side?

I'd guess that it was placed there so it could be seen by the standites, Celtic End and Junglers.

Got this from a French Sports magazine, must be half time when Big Jock has just had his mind games moment with Herrera, looks like he left Wee Steely to finish him off :rocker:

Yep, i was wondering why it was towards the Jungle side rather than in the middle behind the goal. The Celtic End at the time of course was covered.

Danny McGrain scores against Dumbarton August 1975.
TWG - do you know which of the 8 scored that day that Danny got? Important to me! I was there but unbelievably missed 3 goals. I think it explains my lifelong obsessions since (i was 6 or 7 at that game) for making kick offs and never leaving early. It just possibly might add another goal to my McGrain collection! Seems bizarre that i can add a goal 37 years later but the memory is fragile.
McGrain got the second on 20 minutes.

Got that from the Celtic match programmes site
Cheers Cossy. Can't remember if i missed one goal at the start and two at the end or vice versa

442 magazine once described this team as having the most mentally unstable forward line in the history of football.
Fair comment.
