Danny McGrain scores against Dumbarton August 1975.
TWG - do you know which of the 8 scored that day that Danny got? Important to me! I was there but unbelievably missed 3 goals. I think it explains my lifelong obsessions since (i was 6 or 7 at that game) for making kick offs and never leaving early. It just possibly might add another goal to my McGrain collection! Seems bizarre that i can add a goal 37 years later but the memory is fragile.

I think Dumbarton player in centre of picture has a Celtic connection.
Possibly Donald Watt :hmmm: who played one game for Celtic a Dryborough Cup game by coincindence against Dumbarton whom he joined latterly - He got injured in his one game and was subbed.

lolojo,
Think I put that pile of Celtic Views back up in the loft. Will see if I can find the details of the game.

Brilliant pictures of the old ground. The roof which you can see to the right of the photo, entitled Janefield St enclosure 1905, looks awfully like the roof that was on the old jungle when I started to go to games in the early sixties which was then replaced by the structure which was there until the building of the new stadium. Could be wrong though!
You're very close. The roof that went up in 1905 has two arches at either side of the centre.
The enclosure was reroofed in 1929 at the same time the Main Stand went up and the Grant Stand came down.

The new roof on the Jungle side was minus the two arches but was similar apart from that.
One story was that when it rained heavily it came down the side of the arches and soaked everyone nearby.
Not sure if there's any truth in that though.

Thanks for that! I can remember now seeing old pictures of that side of the ground with the arches on the roof.

McGrain got the second on 20 minutes.

Got that from the Celtic match programmes site

Excellent picture of the Rangers End at CP without the roof, the old scoreboard and the houses where CP1 stood.
