I'm always torn when I see pics like that one. On the one hand, it reinforces how much Celtic Park needed to be modernized; on the other, it shows the place where I first came to love the club and where I saw many wonderful wins...

what surprises me looking back at that, the Rangers End roof is far bigger than the Celtic End, in the ground back then I always took the Celtic End as being bigger.
The roof was bigger but the capacity would have been similar Im sure. Maybe your a wee bit young to remember. ;)

Strange website the photo is from, Glesga Pals, a lot about Bridgeton, local hunnism in detail as you would expect, Rangers, Celtic, local junior and juvenile teams.
Yet not one word about a wee local team who won the Scottish Cup three times.....................Clyde.
:suspect:

Not sure qbout this Glesga pals site, is it not a nest of huns ? Or is that the GlasgowGuide site ( or both ) ?

On the CP picture, when was the new roof put on the Celtic end, was it 1988 ?

Met the the guy who runs the site, Glesga Pals, in the Sacred Heart church, nice enough guy, he was taking photos for GPs.
Your correct, he is not a North Stand season ticket holder.
:)

1986- The Celtic End - west terracing - is re-roofed with the new structure providing total cover.

I stand to be corrected but I remember a game against Hibs in season 85-86 when Brian McClair scored Celtics all time 7000th league goal in a 2-0 win and the old Celtic end was a building site as the new terracing was being built

Anybody got a photograph of this new extended Celtic end cover? I dont recall that occurring. I would have been in Iraq but still dont recall any change to the shelter.

Dont have a pic but I can recall moving from the Jungle to the New Celtic end in 1987 my first game there was against Forfar in the League cup either a 4-0 or 4-1 win .

I remember it was the same day as the Hungerford massacre as that was what was on the radio on the bus home and we wondered what the hell happened

The 1950s tin roof at the Celtic End only covered half the terracing.

Some photos from Celtic away to Politehnica Timisoara in 1980.
I sent some a couple of years ago to Auldbhoy and he put them on the Wiki. These are not on the Wiki.

McCluskey, Conroy, and Bonner on the pitch pre-match.

This is a still from a video I'm trying to put on Youtube. George played in a charity match for Adelaide Celtic Supporters around 1989(?).
