Johnny Doyle scores winner for 10 man Celtic. September 1979.
The urchin was thrown out at that game for opening a bottle of Pomagne :brickwall: after our first goal.
"Pomagne" in the Gorbals :i_say:

Nae fancy names - Just cheap "get mangled" cider in The Calton. :gavbhoy:
Pomagne was the fitba fan's cider of choice in the 70s!

From the reports it sounded like some game. Ferguson unsurprisingly in the huff after the game claiming that Celtic intimidated them. Says that Danny McGrain and Bobby Lennox drove the team on to the win. Gorbals Urchin, sorry you missed the winner. Hope you at least got a chance to drink some of your pomagne.
Copper took the drink off me ,however the gates where opened with a couple
of minutes to go ,so me and the rest of the ejectees and ticketless fans
got in for the sing song at the end ,was this the first time we had beaten
them up ther for a while .

Can still remember watching the highlights on the Saturday night. The noise from our supporters that day was tremendous.

The fans willed on the team when they were down to 10. Wish Celtic would bring out a DVD with the old 70's highlights.

That was the day Tam Burns nearly halfed wee Gordo in two as well

You've got me although I remember the picture very well.
I think that we were playing D. Kiev and the team got
back to Glasgow at 01h00 on the Saturday on the return
after a rotten journey.

Jock took them to CP for a training session straight from the 'plane
as the SFA would not postpone the Tynecastle fixture at 15h00 that day.

I give up on the guy in the middle though.

A very similar thing happened in 1995. We played Dinamo Batumi on the Thursday and Motherwell at home on the Saturday. Batumi is just about as far away to the East as Baghdad!! I think once again, the team got back to Glasgow in the wee hours of the Saturday morning. We took the lead in that Motherwell game, a peach from O'Donnell and funnily enough we tired in the second half and Motherwell pegged us back to 1-1.

By the way to all the contributors here

I was left this by a family member; some of my family were involved with Celtic from an early age. Wondered if anyone had came across similar memorabilia?
