Absolutely phenomenal stuff.

More poignant still as i have just recently been working with the Celtic foundation and was mentioning that my Granda's yard - RD's as you know, had the contracts for the ground. Was worried that the Coach i was working with was giving it lip service as someone else with a tenuous link to the Club or trying to impress.

My Dad used to regale us with tales of sitting on Charlie Tully's knee and later mixing with the Lions, thought the tale that it would usually have been my Granda driving the truck but gave it to his mate (perhaps was indisposed as it was the 26th) was one of those family tales but going by the comments earlier that could well be right.

Can't thank you and all the other posters enough for putting this stuff up.

Hail Hail.
John McAlindon the guy pictured with your Grandad drove the RD Stewart truck round the track so that may be the link to what you were told,Snudge.

Snudge,
Delighted for you on the find. I posted that myself although as CaltonBhoy said Four Leaf Clover had maybe posted it already. I got it from my dad's colllection of cuttings. It was in a magazine in July 67. It was a feature on Lisbon and the history of Celtic. A ceackin photo. Enjoy the brandy.
Nah it was you that posted it mate, as Celtic Ireland said its great thread started by GR and for Snudge to find the image of his granda makes it all worthwhile.

My heart nearly jumped out my chest there. The gut on the left is my Granda! Died when i was one, only pics i have are his old RAF one and a pic of him holding me as a baby before he died.

Can i ask the story behind this?

Brandy time!
Oh my Christ what a weird night this has turned out to be. Don't have brandy but had me a whiskey or 3 now.

Seeing this pic is so out of the blue. Jimmy Carroll was my Granda too. I was on KDS almost daily for a while there, but for my sins i've fallen away... Snudge67 has been more diligent than me recently, and just happened on this - and promptly txtd me.

My old man has told me so many stories about the work done by him, and my Granda before him, at Paradise... It's not til i saw this on a Celtic website like KDS - and then some other person being able to ID him - that it's dawning on me that they played a part, however small, in the history of our club. Until now i had hadn't realised the significance of it - however small - i suppose.
I have just recalled some of my Dad's stories about The Who gig...

Also, i will need to check with my dad but my understanding is that his Dad, my Granda, pictured here was originally offered the job / honour of driving the RD Stewart's truck around the track in 67, but felt that because it wasn't his shift it should be offered to the driver who was next in line for the overtime wages offered as everyone of the men had families to support. Even tho - and i can't confirm this 100% - the guy who took the shift was a bluenose! AND could have swapped shifts! I'm told my Granda had no regrets over passing the offer of the shift up, as he felt he didn't have the right to gazump someone's shift when they were earning money for their families.

Needless to say, i regret it on his behalf... ;-)

Aw there's more. Over to you Snudge67.

Apologies for my ramblings here bhoys n ghirls.

Hail Hail the Celts are here..........................

Old chap on my bus had loads of unseen pics of Big Jock he was a good friend of the big man through the NIAR years. Trying to persuade him to let me scan them but he is a very modest man and didnt want to show off as he put it. I think i am talking him round :)

Sam, The game we won 4-2 at Easter Road came in the 9 in a row season in Feb 74. This is definitely April 73.
