A image from a while back, not sure if we ever got the answer to who the guy in the glasses was, Jim Craig tells us:
Posted Image
It was taken at the City Chambers in Glasgow on 14th May 2002, the day before Real Madrid met Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League Final. As former winners, my team-mates and I were among the guests that morning and this photo was one of many taken in that impressive edifice. SFA secretary Ernie Walker is in the light suit, I am in the Lions blazer and between us is left-winger Francisco Gento, who won six European Cup medals and starred in that 1960 final.
Seven years after I watched him that night at Hampden, he was my immediate opponent when Celtic took on Real Madrid in the Bernabeu Stadium in Alfredo Di Stefano’s testimonial match, only two weeks or so after winning the European Cup in Lisbon. By that time, Gento was 34 and still quick! Thank goodness I played against him in the declining years of his career – he must have been something else in his prime!

In this, Danny McGrain named Arthur Graham and John McDonald as his toughest opponents. I confess I never heard of them. Who were they?

Arthur Graham played for Aberdeen and went onto have a decent career at Leeds and Man UTd, as well as playing in a good Scotland side.

John "polaris" McDonald was an ugly diving hun rodent, who despite showing some early promise at the huns turned out to be totally useless.

Arthur was by several accounts a big tims fan and IIRC was slated in the press (Sunday Mail??) for stating there was zero chance he would ever sign for der hun.

Bought that photo out of Kollectables a number of years ago. On the back of the photo, written in pencil, it says the two with Big Billy are Tang hung Cheong and Kwok Ka Ming.
This guy and other guy, Tang hung Cheonge both played for Hong Kong in the 70s

May 1972: Celtic fans silhouetted high in the stands at Hampden Park, during the Scottish Cup final. Celtic thrashed Hibernian 6-1 in the final, which was attended by more than 100,000 fans.

That's right circa '76  . The Mail ran an article asking a few catholic players if they'd sign for the huns. Arthur Graham said no but I think a few others (Willie Morgan?) said they would. I think this was after the latest episode of the huns' wrecking havoc in England (Aston Villa)

Re Arthur Graham, I remember the article. A number of Catholic players were interviewed, including Pat Jennings. Most gave diplomatic answers, but Arthur said 'not for a king's ransom'.

It kind of stuck with me that reply.
