Great photos!

I've got a wee collection of these old press photos myself, most of which I have uploaded to our Wiki site.
Could the above photo be from the same incident as this one below?

Posted Image

Canny be from the same incident ah don't think :ponder:
In the top photy Stevie Chalmers (it is him innit?) wi the wee
number 9 on his shorts is very close tae the penalty spot.
On your picture, the only Celtic player in the shot looks very near
the edge of the area almost on the left wing, but is also wearing shorts wi the wee number 9 :cartuja:

I can't believe quite how crowded the stands are in some of these pictures.
I've seen footage of older games before but the poor quality often makes the crowd difficult to see clearly.
Quite busy back then eh?

Love this shot as the wee man looks like he is whistling as he leaves the huns in a spin :rocker:
Great photo.. :) ...what some younger observers might not notice......Rangers are still wearing the rather old-fashioned V-neck shirts while the Celts are wearing a very modern style top......a sign that Celtic were to be the real force of the mid to late 1960's. A real contrast in styles.....in more ways than one!

Whitby Street to the right, can see 1 of my old flats one of the many i stayed in surounding Celtic Park,
pub at the corner now known as The Oak Bar, better known as The Clansmen or the Clanny to the regulars,
walked that rail line many a time on my way home from St Marys just off the London Road.

Can spot another flat i lived in Corner of Springfield Rd and London Rd

Excellent pics of the roof of the Celtic End going up in 1957 appears to show that the terracing was extended to accommodate the roof.
First time i've ever saw evidence of this or even heard of it.

This was the Celtic end until 1986......As you can see the roof only comes halfway over the terracing. During the winter of 1986 the Celtic end was shutdown for a period of time for reconstruction. The new terracing had the roof coming over in line with the very front of the terracing, like the Rangers end. A sponsor was also added to the lip of the new roof. The new Celtic end also made made the roof far closer to the jungle. The barriers you stood in front of were all steel rather concrete as shown in these photos. They also added new turnstiles as well during this work. The old turnstiles were up to waist height and you could lift someone over them. The new turnstiles were exactly the same style as they are today.

The capacity was cut from 67,000 to 61,000 after the reconstruction.

This info is my own knowledge as I was going home and away as a boy around this time. I still have a video when we played a midweek game against Dundee during the winter of 86 and the Celtic end is totally closed and under construction.
