Punt on Willie Johnston with your Big Pal (the Quiet Guy with the small hands lol) in goals and Jim Brogan running back.

It is Hampden - Brogan, Gemmell and John Fallon all played in the 4-0 Scottish Cup Final so may be that?

Loving the bottom picture. Been reading lots about the first great Celtic team. Lots of characters to be had and the formidable front line of Hamilton, Bennett, McMenemy, Somers and Quinn :worthy:

Am I right in thinking Bennett was dropped for a game v the huns as he couldn't be trusted to be "in the right frame of mind"(though not sure sports psychology was big then!!!!) and eventually moved to them????

Yeah he was a Rangers fan and Maley had to rebuff several approaches for him and he eventually went. But according to Potter's book about the Mighty Quinn, he didn't enjoy it once he joined and he yearned to be back in one of the best Celtic teams ever.

That is a cracking picture. There must be a better version of it somewhere...

A slight digression, but I really think newspaper archivists should set up a digitised database of their back issues. The Times have one, and it is great, but it stops at 1950 when photos in newspapers were only really coming into fashion.
