Seem to remember Hibs doing away with the white sleeves for a season in the early 70's as well.
I can recll a purple and white strip Hibs wore early 70s, Bukta :boik:
They played at Parkhead in it in October 1977 when we won 3-1. Remember it well.

Is it my imagination or is there a strong emphasis on the 60's and 70's ?

Well spotted SW ! I'm going through my poster collection and I'm now at 1973. Plenty more to come.

From a personal point of view the 70's is my favourite Celtic decade.

Totally agree LB. Can still remember the night I heard he was leaving on the radio in 1983 and I was gutted. Think we all knew he was off but it was still a sickener when it happened.

Absolutely gutting but not as much as Dalglish leaving - That was the worst by far for me.

No matter what people think of him nowadays Charlie was fantastic and a sheer joy to watch playing for Celtic first time around.

totally agree.i don't think i've ever been as heartbroken about any player leaving as i was when dalglish left.I remember ,although i knew he was leaving, being shattered when i heard richard Park on radio clyde saying "Kenny Dalglish of liverpool"i know where i was when i heard this just like my parents knew where they were when President Kennedy was shot.I really though Nicholas was going to be as good and he wanted to stay one more season with us but unfortunately the board only saw the pound signs so basically pushed him out.

The galling thing about Nicholas is that he gave us only 2 full seasons and pisst off to Arsenal aged only 21. Islam Feruz gave us more than that (well almost)

Can't bare to hear him described as a Celtic legend. Jinky, Kenny, Henrik yes. Charlie, no.

Me and a few mates went to Nicholas's last games for Celtic, 3 games in 4 days in 3 diffo countries.
4-2 game at hunnery on the Saturday, 3-1 loss to Sunderland at Berwick Rangers on the Sunday for some guy's testimonial and away to Finn Harps on the Tuesday in which we won 4-0.

Anyways Nicholas is walking up to the dressing room at the end of the Finn Harps game and me and two mates are standing just feet away from him with just a bit of rope keeping the crowd back.

Don't go Charlie, we were saying to him.
He half lifted his head and said eff off before heading into the dressing room not to be seen again in a Celtic strip until about a decade later.

When we arrived back in Glasgow off the supporters bus i can still see the newspapers boards with the headline Charlie, why i had to go at Queen St station.

Great tale. Knew he played his last game in Ballybofey but didn't realise about the 3 games in 4 days in 3 countries.
