The caption I saw said it was Celtic fans "heading for" Dunfermline. So maybe not necessarily Dunfermline itself?

We stayed in a hotel about a mile from the ground and had
a drink in there till the early hours after the game it felt safer
after the abuse we got in the ground from their fans, loads of tims spread
round the top two tiers ,I wonder if big George had scored that early chance
if we could have held out.
George McClure Travel from Shettleston for this trip, three buses, none with toilets, all broke down

£65 included two nights hotel

Hotel Puerto de Toledo

Happy Days, until the match started

Can anyone remember a photo that was posted a while back, think it was against raith rovers or Dunfermline 50s or 60s ad say and showed thousands of fans at side of train track and the train on the track and the Bhoys making their way to game? There was also a massive cylinder shape structure in background of photo. Does anyone have this photo and if so can shed some light on it?👍🏼
Not got the picture at hand, but its one the often opens a debate about its location.Ive always thought it was ibrox.

Your right Snowy the image has come up for debate quite a few times with no real answers ... until now thanks to the OP

There is no doubt the fans are getting off at Ibrox station with the Helen St Gasometer in the background

What we didn't know was the Dunfermline slant but with a wee bit of digging we now know that Celtic played the Pars at Ibrox in the Semi final of the 1966 Scottish Cup

http://www.britishpathe.com/video/celtic-into-final

rangers played Aberdeen in the other semi at Hampden the same day.

If you check the link the gas holder is still in use here. The station is long gone.

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Glasgow/@55.851686,-4.3165283,453m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x488815562056ceeb:0x71e683b805ef511e!8m2!3d55.864237!4d-4.251806

The original picture was probably taken from Edmiston Drive facing south towards Bellahouston Park as you can see the big hill in the background.

Spoiler: click to toggle

I know this isn't really Celtic related but I'm a nosey bugger. What are the two other football pitches that are now car parks? Were they junior clubs, training pitches for der hun or just public parks or something?

Just looked the dog track up and it says situated next to Bellahouston park must
have been a right busy area at one time.

So the ground just at the left of their ground was the Albion dog track and the one at the bottom left would be the White city dog track ?

Other than the main stand did the old Ibrox only have 4 access/egress points for the terracing?

The main road at the dog track is the Paisley Road West, if picture was a bit bigger at the bottom left you would see the Palace of Arts building in Bellahouston Park..
