Quite a claim given that MacLeod, Strachan, Macmaster, Bannon, Bett, Russell and Fitzpatrick were all fine players at that time.

My first ever Celtic game.

My wee brother made his First Holy Communion that day, and my Dad managed to score four tickets for the two of us boys, plus him and my grandpa to see the game.

Was a magic day, and I remember telling my wee bro on the way home that Celtic would always win everything.

Thanks for posting the pic - reminded me of a special day in my young life.

Strangely - there were no Celtic players in the 1978 World Cup Squad.

Most were playing for English clubs, with 3 huns, 3 sheep and Alan Rough from the jags.
Probably the most notable absentee from that squad was Andy Gray who had won POTY and Young POTY that year in England.
He was left out in favour of Derek Johnstone.
Yes you read that correctly.
