^^^ Pat Stanton v. Bertie.

Could be the 6-2 League Cup Final in 1969 (delayed from 1968); I'm sure Bertie scored in that one with the Buzz Bomb getting a hat-trick. I think we must the only team to win a national trophy twice in the same calendar year.

Aye, I think Edwards and Gordon got a couple of consolation goals for the Hi-bees.

EDIT: Gordon and Edwards didn't play in that final; might well have been Cormack (later went to Liverpool) and O'Rourke.

That is Bertie Auld and Hampden

He scored from the edge of the box in the 6-2 League Cup win against Hibs so it may be that one but not sure tbh.

I have similar memories of a game at Dens Park in 1967/68 where we were 5-1 up at half-time (the Huns led by the same score against Raith Rovers at the Govan shampooyard); we ended up hanging on to win 5-4, while Huns won 10-2.

It was actually Rothmans British team of the year awards for 1970.

Bit surprised that Murdoch and McNeill weren't in it also that year.

From memory it was along the lines of:

Bonetti

Hay
Labone
Moore
Gemmell

Bremner
Giles

Johnstone
Lee
Osgood
Best

What, no John Greig I hear you say ? They left out the white Pele !

It was Jimmy O'Rourke (great player) and Eric Stevenson who got the Hibs consolation goals.
