Peter Weir
How the feck Big Rougvie had a football career is one of life's mysteries!!!!

When Weir chucked football he bought a newsagents in Mount Florida which would have been a hard shift compared to that of a footballer - Didn't last too long right enough.
Was he not a scout for us under Tommy ?

Is this the game in March 1979 when Alfie Conn scored the only goal?First game in ages after the weather had decimated the fixtures.Danny coming back after an endless injury lay off was very welcome too.

You migt be getting confused with Preston 1974. Presto played in similar strip to Derby.

Had a look at Celtic Wiki...the board says the crowd is 44,000.

Our first game of the season at Celtic Park...after Big Jock's car crash...versus the Champions of England...on a blisteringly hot day.

I was 13 and remember being in mile long queues to get into the Celtic end at the main stand part of the ground. As me and my elder brother finally got within striking distance of the turnstiles, I saw stars in front of my eyes and announced I was going to faint. He was less than sympathetic but our fellow tims literally held me up and helped punt me over.

I diddled Celtic out of a pound or summit. I'm sure if Pedro could find me he'd convert that into today's money and send a bill. :)

Not sure.

I was at all the Old Firm games that season, an it looks like the 2-2 in October 1987. The McAvennie/Woods/Butcher sending off game.

As I recall the 2-1 win was played on a grey and overcast day, whereas the 2-2 game was played in bright sunshine.

Hence why I suspect that it is the draw in October 1987.

Another reason that it is particularly memorable is that I too was arrested at the game. My first occasion to be. I was effing petrified!
You could be right. I've checked the website the pic was posted from and its simply labelled Season 1987/88.

As you say Oct '87 2-2 game was in bright sunshine. The sun shining through the roof in the pic would probably suggest its from this game.

So I would definitely agree with your way of thinking.

ps. did they let you out on Monday morning?
Sorry but I reckon this is the first derby game from 86-87, the game from March 88 would have one very clear defining charcteristic; loads of centenary crests everywhere.
There are none here.
The only hoops I can see are from 86-87.

Yes - and still the worst left back I've seen in a Celtic shirt - wayyyy worse than even the likes of Camara. 1977-78 brought a lot of my "worst Celtic players ever" ......... Baines, Munro, Kay, Dowie, Johnny Gibson :twitch:
