Not often you see the old Ibrox from that angle. 70,000 plus crowds back then.

Dziekanowski (sp) ..... a man once described him (very soon after he signed) as a Cream Doughnut . " ....and we have had the cream , now all we are left with is the doughnut !"

he was right :(

Missed peno by RA, May, '85.
Yeah, but he'd scored the first one, leading to a first class 'honest mistake' by the MiB stating for some unfathomable reason that it had to be retaken

Subsequently the second was missed and you see RA remonstrating with the ref, who I think may have been the notorious David Syme.

That was the most surreal Old Firm I've ever been to. The attendance was really low at around 40,000 as we'd pretty much blown the league by then, but this result confirmed it.

A subdued crowd, atmosphere and indeed everything about the evening was subdued. Bizarrely I seem to recall it being played on a Monday evening?

Then of course there was the Strathclyde Polis doing the charge of the light brigade down Janefield Street.

Truly terrifying.
Spot on, on every count WB

It was an annoying game, two Huns were sent off and we let slip a lead against 9 men although we were down to 10 then also. Another example from them when we should have given them a good doing and let them off the hook.

Happily for me, I missed the grief in Janefield Street afterwards and couldn't believe what I read the next day. That could have been our Hillsbrough. Thank the Good Lord there wasn't a fatality. I'm also sure the rats who were involved in it got promotion in the polis.
I will freely admit to be terrified that evening.

I saw fathers throwing kids over railings and handing them up into balconies to escape the crush.

I was trying to run somewhere, but had no idea where to run to. Eventually being pinned back by the force of the crowd.

It was blind panic all round. God only knows what on earth the police were playing at.

As I recall this was also the first time I attended an Old Firm without chaperoning by a relative or family friend, and I had to think hard about going back for the next Old Firm on my own early next season.

Thinking back this was the only Old Firm game I ever went in the Jungle to watch, then walked back into town after it. Two things I never did again.

I've been going to games for 45 years and if I could change the result of one league game in my time it would be that one.If we had won or even drawn I think we would have won 10 in a row.We collapsed after that result even though that win for them only put them level on points. We had the chances to have won the game.

WHO IS THE OTHER GOALIE WAY RONNIE SIMPSON HELP

Posted Image
John Fallon just confirmed on Twitter it is Tom Lally.
Big John will be correct - Bit that is strange is Lally was on trial and signed in August 1970 and Ronnie was away by then as he retired at the end of the 1969/70 season.
