For the older supporters, how good was George and what were the circumstances behind his leaving?
http://kerrydalestreet.co.uk/topic/8524951/1/

Get a hold of his book, it's tough reading at times but excellent

Never really noticed before but the shirts in this pic are all different and it's even more obvious in the George Connelly pic where the guy in the background doesn't even have the same number of hoops.

You mean people in the same photograph wearing different kits?

Could be just a logistic acommodation - some players liked their kits wider, tucked in or simply filled out them out more/less. Or just the angle of the photograph. Don't think the post-war number ever changed from 6 until the modern era. Bobby Lennox for example is almost always pictured with sleeves rolled-down, tight kit and cross-tied laces. Paddy Crerand on the other hand always had his sleeves collar up, with socks down.

Hence why it sometimes appears irregular:

Pretty sure Patsy even had a specific amount of studs for each boot and McGrory preferred rubber-bands to keep the socks from slumping down.

I remember watching us play Hibs in a 2-1 defeat at Hampden (Dryburgh Cup/league cup) and Hunter had the game of his life, pulled off numerous outstanding saves, probably saved us from a bigger doing. This was a 1970s Celtic team, powerful, talented with Dalglish scoring for us, yet Hibs cuffed us that day, just shows you how good they could be on their day with that great team led by Stanton.
League cup.
cheers

It's the amount of green across the shoulders - virtually nothing on David Hay's shirt, more on Jim Craig's and even more on John Hughes.
In the Connelly pic, he has six full hoops on show while the background has only five and an entirely white section across the shoulders.

Probably just the way the fabric was produced. I imagine the shirts might have been made in batches too.

Williams' and Fallon's jerseys are similar ... but not identical in the team picture above.
An absolute scandal - ha ha ha !

Loved the jerseys with no sponsors though - badge is ok (as is star) but I always buy without the sponser's stuff on them.
