Always knew Rod Stewart was a celeb fan at heart. And as for him that lifted the European Cup :ffs:
SFA were meant to supply Scotland strips for this charity game but on the day they were to be collected it fell through due to a communication breakdown

Captain Cutlass saved the day by sourcing replacements and guess where he got them from😀

My dad passed away over the weekend, he was just short of 83.

Unlike probably most of you, I was a Celt before him, the trainer of our football team who happened to be our parish priest was Celtic daft and had all the kids turned onto Celtic so it took me a while to get him on board as he just liked watching any football game.

He only came over three times with me to CP, he wouldn't fly but it was just as well as he never really understood the tensions that exist between Celtic and some of the other clubs. He would talk to anybody which led to some nervous encounters where I thought he would get me lynched, I was the one wearing the colours.

Being thrown out of my own house when Celtic were on the box the routine I had was to arrive at my dads with a fish & chip and a six pack of guinness for him and we watched the match together.

It will seem very strange next season, I won't know what to do with myself.

Sorry for hijacking the thread, I felt the need to put a few words down and this seemed like the right place to do it.

Sincerest condolences on your sad loss, Elvis

This is one of my favourite threads on here and your pics have brought back many happy and a few sad, memories.

When thinking of your dad keep hold of all the great times that you had together and the many good and bad times that you both shared.
I lost my dad back in 1994, he was a fan from his youth and could recall seeing the like of Thomson, McGrory and many others. His personal favourite was Malcolm MacDonald.
When I think of the hard times that he lived through in terms of employment not to mention little things like the football, I know that we are very fortunate to be around now!

That old saying about us standing on the shoulders of giants rings very true.

Celebrate your dad and what you shared!

Hail, Hail.

It's post-1931 as middle picture is from 1931 cup win.

Bertie & Alec Thomson, Wilson plus Kennaway and Quaskly as trainer mark it pretty clearly.

Where's 2 of the greatest ever Celts that played in that 1931 final?
Ouch...

Thought Wilson left in '33 after Geatons & Paterson established themselves while Kennaway got his medal in '33. A bit ashamed to have forgotten about our 1933 cup triumph albeit resulting from a much less spectacular match than '31.

One of the rare occasions a McGrory goal was recorded

I loved the coin toss - he must have thrown it about 3 yards behind himself
